Estate Sale Paydirt!!

Last Friday my friend Lynne and I hit an estate sale very close to my house. Then on Saturday my hubby and I went back again!! I couldn't believe how much was left and to make it even better it was all 50% off!!!
I got several bottles to play with. Some for wax bottles, one to use as a lovely vessel to hold German glass glitter, A couple of silver plated powder jars and several tiny perfume bottles I'll turn into pendants.

I also found some lovely linens. Tablecloths, doilies, and runners. Some I will use, and some will get re-purposed into art projects.

The front and back of this old photo album will be remade into a lovely fabric book. I also picked up some more jewelry pieces to be used in one of my own jewelry creations. ( A girl can never have too much bling!!)

I am going to paint the wood bottom of this snack server (It's a Lazy Susan) and use it in my studio to hold jewelry bits and beads etc... for when I'm working on a project.

This chair got a makeover....

Much better!!!  I have to admit, that I finally decided to break down and see what all the fuss was about, regarding Anne Sloan Chalk paint. There's a shop here in town called Audrey's that carries it, and Lynne talked me into to trying it. The color I chose was Robin's Egg Blue and I have to say... I really liked it!! The color went on very easily and I actually only needed one coat on this chair.
Distressing was as as easy as wiping off the areas I wanted to or using a fine grit sandpaper. Then I waxed it with Clear Bri Wax (It's what I had at home already) After several days everything has cured to a nice hard finish.

Well those are my finds for last week!! I hope if you are out treasure hunting this weekend, you have a very successful trip!!

Hi Karen, I am trying to catch up with my friends with some me time this evening. It is very stressful with hubby in the nursing home and where I work is closing so there goes the job. Oh well, more cheerful things. I like your little bottles. I found some when I was going through Hubby's mother's things. They look like medicine bottles. I don't know for sure. Have a wonderful day. Your Missouri Friend.

Tillykke Karen med dine dejlige fund, jeg kunne også ha brugt det hele, undtagen stolen (jeg har alt for mange stole, og for lidt plads) men linnede og bling bling er super fine fund. knus morkaren.

I am drooling !!!!

Those were the kinds of items I dream of finding at estate sales, that I can afford, our only estate sale company has very high prices on everything, even 1/2 price is high

It is soooo fun to find things like that

Love all the bottles...seriously, $1.00 each! I've never been to an Estate Sale... I think I need to check into that in our area. Love the idea of the lazy susan for craft room, for all the little bits. I've been using salt and pepper shakers but have to empty constantly...that's genius! And your chair is gorgeous, I made homemade chalkpaint with plaster of paris and flat wall paint and did some frames for the first time. I have to say they came out great and I need to move up to a chair! Have a GREAT weekend!
Hugs,
~Pendra

As much as I adore estate sales and bargains, I'm glad I don't live in PV or even to know about that estate sale. I need nothing and am doing my best to shop more mindfully. Now that I'm not going to be a vendor at Art Unraveled, I don't look for things I can put up for sale in my booth. You definitely hit a mother lode and I want to congratulate you on your finds. My favorite piece? The old book covers. I covet vintage books for their covers. I have yet to create what i want with the ones I have. But I will one of these days.

Take care, Marrianna

Karen, That sale looks like it was fantastic! Wish I could go shopping with you. And that we had sales like that in my area. Do you happen to know of a vendor that sells shabby flea market finds and ships to customers?

Have a great weekend!
