Happy weekend my friends!! I've been having some fun playing in the studio the past couple of days. I thought I would share with you the twine and lace Easter eggs I've been making.
I prepared a tutorial, but I'm sure you probably don't need it. They are really easy!
Anyway here goes...
Anyway here goes...
I purchased the eggs at Hobby Lobby. There were 6 for 87¢. Yep, 87¢. These eggs are slightly larger than a normal size plastic egg. Place a small amount of glue on the rim and close up the egg. This will help with strength.
For the twine, I use medium weight gardening twine from Ace hardware. It's cheap and easy for me to find, but I know the craft stores are carrying some now to.
Start by the winding the twine in a circle between your fingers, using a little bit of glue to help hold it together. Make sure the center is tightly wound or you will see the colored egg peaking through.
Place some glue on your egg. (I love "The Ultimate" by Crafter's Pick, available at most craft stores)
Then place your twine at the bottom of the egg and begin wrapping your twine.
Gently push up the twine as you go to keep it close to the previous wrap and keep it level on the egg.
When you get passed the half way point, flip the egg over and continue wrapping.
Finish wrapping your egg and cut off the extra. Again, be careful to wrap the end completely or your egg color will show through. Now just embellish to hearts content!!! Here are the ones I have made so far....
I don't do a lot of decorating for Spring and Easter, but I really like these eggs. I will probably leave them out until Summer!!! I hope you make some of your own! Have fun!!!
Today I am linking up with Inspire Me Monday at Create with Joy!!!

many hugs

Oh, these are pretty Karen. And, because they are earthy and not just Easter in appearance, I think they could stay out all year maybe. I always thought the plastic eggs on their own were tacky and it's nice to see they can really be dressed up.

I may just have to try that...I love the one with the ribbon on top and the buttons...great idea!
So Sweet. I love that they are feminine and rustic. I'm new to your blog and have found such inspiration here. BEAUTIFUL! And it was fun to discover that we are distant neighbors. I live in the White Mountains.
Thank you for sharing your talent!

Lace & buttons are two of my most favorite things, how could I not love these! Funny to think of Spring & Easter today...it's snowing here in Minnesota! Thanks for sharing a little sunshine!

Very pretty and easy, Karen! I guess its the twine wrapping that takes a little time to get right. Love the different embellishments you added. This would be a good project to use up all those little pieces of lace and trim I hold on to.
Happy Sunday!
Karen....this is a great idea, I am going to do these with my girls for our Easter decor theme. I hope your weekend has been great!1

How sweet are these? I love how easy it is, I bet it would work on an antique bottle, too!
Such a charming idea! Love the use of white appliqués on the natural twine..also the use of your button stash for the photos! Wonderful!
Karen, I totally love these eggs. I have so many buttons and lace and I am going to make some of these, for sure. Is the glue you used pretty fast to dry as I don't think I've ever used this brand? Thanks for sharing this great idea!
These are lovely! I have been wondering what to do with some I have and I just might try that! :D Thank you!

Oh, how enchanting. I have been blowing hen eggs and covering them with paper pulp made from old envelopes. I bet they would look beautiful with a little bit of lace or a crochet flower. I shall give it a try

The eggs are beautiful, and the tutorial so easy to follow! Nicely timed too- I was hoping to find a craft I could work on for a bit before Easter crept up on me.

These are so cute! I'm not very crafty, but they look like something I could handle! ;) And I love them enough to give it a try. I like the contrast of the twine and lace. Beautiful!
Wow ! These are gorgeous ! I'm not much for decorating for holidays but I sure would love to try this out. I'm not very crafty but sure looks pretty easy. Thankyou Karen for sharing your tutorial. Many thanks, ~ Laurie~
I can't believe that I missed this last week! These are lovely and I really enjoyed this tutorial. What an inventive way to use some cheap and plastic eggs and make them into something truly lovely.
hi, i think these are so lovely...i am trying to make some, but i am using paper mache eggs and different coloured yarns. the problem i seem to be having is getting the yarn to stick when i get to the other tip of the egg.. any suggestions? otherwise its working well. i am using colours like green, blue, pastel etc like you would dye eggs with. :-) i will post a photo when i get a bunch compleated
Karen- I've never seen anything like these before-- I love the twine and buttons and lace!!!
Vicki
can you tell where do you get these lovely laces?
Hi Karen, I'm Donna's SIL in TX. I blog over at Posed Perfection and am going to be sharing a tutorial on twine wrapped eggs tomorrow. I just wanted to let you know that your eggs are absolutely gorgeous and I mentioned you at the end of the post as my inspiration for my eggs. Mine are just plain, but I had to share how beautiful yours are and direct my readers to see the works of art you created. I'm following you on GFC and Google+. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
Nici Higby
These are AMAZING! I am so inspired.

What a wonderful project and your tutorial is done so well. My youngest granddaughter collects buttons, so we must try our hands at these eggs one of these days!
I love these!! I especially love all the little embellishments you added, so adorable! I'll be pinning to do these, they fit better in my decor than the bright spring colours. Thanks for sharing!
Debbie :)
Rustic combined with feminine - my favorite combo!!! Love this project! Hope you can stop by the enchanted oven to say hi.
