Where Bloggers Create 2010

Click Here to visit my Party Post!!!!

The Permanent Link list is up and ready to go! You can visit the list of party goers by clicking HERE!!
I cannot believe that almost a year has gone by since I made the announcement for the first Where Bloggers Create party. So many wonderful things have happened since that party. I have made some amazing new friends, there is a story about me, and the first Where Bloggers Create party in the current issue of Where Women Create magazine (I still can’t believe it), I got laid off from my job and decided to use my love of creativity and blogging to start my own Blog Design business and thanks to the amazing women in Blogland, has so far been very successful. I believe the catalyst for all of this was last years party. I got so much fabulous feedback from all of you, I knew this would become a yearly event. And so I would like to announce the
2nd Annual Where Bloggers Create party- June 19th, 2010!!!! It’s time again to share your creative spaces!!!

Is your space at the dining room table? Do you have a room of your own? Have you converted a closet? And what do you do in there? What kind of things do you create?

This year is special because Jo Packham and Where Women Create magazine is offering some fabulous prizes!

The first prize is your own feature in Where Women Create magazine! (How cool is that?) Jo Packham herself will pick the winner and boy is it ever a fun experience!

Then we will be offering to 6 random party goers,
2- 1 year subscriptions to Where Women Create magazine
2 -Sets of Jo’s books Where Women Create and The Book of Inspiration
2-WWC charm bracelets

So this is how it will work. If you want to participate leave me a comment on this post. I will add your name to the list of participants on my sidebar. On the night before the party, post your photos and stories about yourselves and your art. (This assures that the early risers or those bloggers in other parts of the world can see your post on time.) We all love lots of pictures so don’t be shy!!!! On the day of the party we will all meet here and you can spend the whole weekend blog hopping to visit everyone’s blogs and get a peak inside all the very wonderful and creative studios!!
It doesn’t matter if your space is big or small, it’s yours and that makes it special!!!

This year I have set up a separate blog to house all the links for a whole year, so don’t worry if you can’t visit them all in a week or two. After they hang out on my blog for a while I will move them all to my Where Bloggers Create blog so you can visit them anytime you want to!!!

I have one favor to ask.... Please help me spread the word!! I have created a button for everyone to grab and put on their blog. And if you would like to help further please do a post about the party as well. The more folks who know about the party, the more fun we will all have!!!!

I hope to see you all there!!!!

(Cut off for signing up will be Friday June 11th so I have time get all the blogs linked up before the party.)

( A little reminder... I have had several girls leave comments that they want to participate, but their profiles are not available to see, or they don't have a blog listed in their profile. I can't sign you up if I can't find you... and I really want to!! So make sure there is a way for me to contact you! Thanks!)

I think I fixed the problem... and some really great news!

Thank you to all of you who emailed me to tell me I had a problem with my blog. Some of you saw everything just fine and left me sweet comments already, but some of you have been unable read any posts. I think I have the problem fixed. I believe it was a corrupt jpeg in the post. I tossed that one in the trash and started over. Hopefully you can all see everything normally again. So.... here is the last post in case you missed it!!!

It’s finally here!!!! If you had told me a year ago that I would have an article in Where Women Create magazine I would have told you, you were NUTS!!! Now, here I am in the magazine, with a growing Blog Design business and hundreds of wonderful friends from all over the World!!! I am on Cloud 9!!!

The whole team over at the magazine were so wonderful to work with and they created such a beautiful issue! It feels like forever since this journey started, and I am so thrilled with the way it turned out! And not only is my article in there, but my friend Rebecca from Vintage Living has a huge story in there about her as well!!! I could not have a asked for a more wonderful magazine for my first published story. It still feels kind of surreal! My hands are still shaking!!!! The magazine will not be on the newstands until the first week of May, but I believe subscribers are already starting to receive their copies.

I will be making the official announcement about the upcoming Where Bloggers Create party on Monday. I’m off now to read the rest of the magazine!!! Woooo Hooo!!!!

Home made Terrarium

When last months issue of Country Living came out, I knew I wanted to make this really cool terrarium. The whole thing was made with inexpensive wood frames! I was so happy when I remembered a whole box of not very attractive frames that I had in a box, which was destined for a future garage sale.

The directions were very easy to follow. I needed two 11x14, two 8x10 and four 5x7 frames. The most important thing is that the frames are as close to each other's respectives sizes as possible.

The only thing I changed was the wood filler they told me to use to fill in the gaps. I used dry wall mud instead.

It fills in all the gaps and when you spread it on in a thin coat, it helps to give the frames a texture that duplicates a piece that has been painted multiple times over. They also suggest to add the glass back in using a bead of hot glue. I didn't like the shiny look of the glue so I painted over it. Then I added Light Brown Bri Wax over the whole thing. It ages the piece nicely and gives it a wonderful finish.

I think the instructions scanned pretty well so you should be able to print them out if you want to make one of these. If you have any questions, drop me an email.

Looking to start a new Blog????

My friend Jodi over at Everything vintage published a wonderful post for all the folks out there who don’t have a blog but are thinking of starting one. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it! Why, you ask??? Because she beat me to it!! I was going to do a post all about starting up your first blog, but truth be told, I think she did a better job than I would have. The truth is, it doesn’t really matter who writes it as long as the information gets out there. I would like to encourage any one who would like to start a blog to GO FOR IT!!!! The friendships you will make are amazing! Don’t worry if you feel like you have nothing to say, if you build it... it will come!!! I have been been blogging for almost a year now, and it has filled a whole in me I didn’t even know I had. Go on over and read Jodie's post and when you are finished, if you haven’t been to visit the “Free Tips and Tricks page on Valentine Design you might want to do that too. There are some easy things you can do to improve the look of your blog and enhance your blogging experience. AND, if any one has any questions they need answering regarding an existing blog or a new one, please feel free to drop me an email. If I can help... I will.

Mind Control at Anthropologie??? Yea, that's it!

It all started innocently enough... I was having lunch with a friend. How much trouble could I possibly get in??? It was a fabulous lunch, full of laughs and good company (and the most decadent grilled cheese sandwich ever!) As we were leaving my friend said the words that will stay with me, haunting me forever...... “Hey, let’s go into Anthropologie.” “No problem,” I thought.” I can go in there... The store is great for window shopping, but I rarely find anything that looks good on me.” Ohhhhhh... if only I had known. My desire to actually interact with real human beings instead of sitting in front of my computer all day must have clouded my mind. I started picking up piece after piece... I grabbed my booty and headed to dressing room. Great.... No big surprise in there. Most of the stuff looked awful on me. And then I tried on the top that sent all sanity completely out of my head. A simple little top really. Probably no more that a yards worth of fabric in the whole thing. But it fit so beautifully. I held my breath as I looked at the price tag.

I looked again. And again. It was obvious I have not been out shopping in regular priced “trendy” shops in a very long time. What was I thinking??? I started reasoning with myself... “You've been working really hard... You deserve this... You haven’t bought yourself anything new in at least 2 months. I’m doing my patriotic duty and feeding the economy. (That’s the excuse I’ll give my husband if he ever finds out...) And so... I decided to buy the top. My friend had an appointment to get to, so she had to leave. (Traitor) She should have known better than to leave me in a clothing store unattended. “I’ll just look around a little more...” I thought innocently to myself. (Yeah, right)

First, I hit the sale rack where I found the cutest sweater. I know I will not be able to wear it for at least 8 months, but I couldn’t resist. Then I found another adorable top with the prettiest shabby roses all around the neckline. Before I could talk myself out of it, I grabbed my items and RAN to the counter to check out. (I won’t tell you how much each item cost, mostly out of self preservation should my darling sweet wonderful husband ever read this post.) But I will tell you, I have completely and utterly lost my mind!!!! This is what happens when you don’t get out of the house enough!!!!

Of course, I do LOVE my new tops, and now I’m going to need to make sure I get out once in a while so I can wear them!!!
