Furniture Pieces... Before and After ASCP

I thought I would show you a few of the before and afters of some of my newly acquired furniture pieces. This little sidetable came from The Salvage Yard and I only paid $15.00 for it.It was pretty ugly with a stained formica like top on it.

I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint that I got at Audrey's here in Phoenix. I only used half of a sample size pot for this whole piece!! After painting the inset with "Old White" and the body with "Antoinette" I used my own glazing liquid to distress and age it before applying the soft clear wax to it.

This is my new studio bookcase sitting in Goodwill patiently waiting for someone to come along and give it makeover! It was only $30.00!

And here she is all happy in a coat of Old White and a few wooden appliques to help soften her previous "contemporary" look. I finished this whole thing in one weekend!!

This transformation is by far my favorite. My hubby and I bought this china cabinet shortly after our marriage in 1999. I hadn't developed my style yet and so because it was the shape I wanted I agreed to it. I've been wanting to get rid of the dated oak for many years now!!

Finally hubby said yes!! Yeah!!! I ran over to Audrey's the very next day and bought a can old Ochre and a sample size of "French Linen" I wish you could see it person! It looks so much better!! I removed the glass panels in the doors and hope to put chicken wire in there eventually. For now I'm happy to leave it just as it is!!!

I will never use latex paint to redo furniture ever again. I recently painted the oak columns in my house using the same latex paint we did the kitchen in. After doing 3 projects in a row using ASCP, I realized how much of a pain latex paint is and how easy it is to get a fabulous finish with the chalk paint!!

Now... what else can I makeover????? (wink)

Sweet Salvage-July

I am so happy to finally be able to do my Sweet Salvage post! Computer problems suck when you are a blogger!!! Thankfully everything seems to be fixed now, so away we go!!!

 This month's theme was "Now Showing" a wonderful theme where vendors used movies as their inspiration. Unfortunately I was too caught up looking at all the lovely vignettes to pay attention to the movies they were inspired by!!

Please forgive me and just enjoy their beautiful creativity. :)

 One my many addictions collections is old scales. I love them. I already have several hanging scales, so this one was left for some other lucky person.

 Old books are so wonderful for decorating. They make great lifts for showcasing special objects.

 I love old silver too. I bring it out every time we have a party! So much better than plastic trays!!

So many lovely things.

 Something about this sweet little tiered stand I really liked!

 I love that someone painted this piano!! It looks so much more romantic painted white and distressed.

 Spools of twine and lace... it just makes me happy!

 One of these pretty plates came home with me... can you guess which one???

 These were soooo cute!!!!

 This was a gorgeous tablecloth. I wanted to bring it home and feed one of my other addictions

collections, but I refrained!! (it was really hard)

 Isn't this mirror beautiful?

I also thought these old windows, hand painted with the lovely graphics were divine!

You either love these or hate them... I think they are super cute!!!

Isnt she sweet?? She is one of those things that I didnt realize I wanted until I got home and looked at the picks!! Oh well, I came home with some wonderful things, and just what I was looking for...

Here is my haul! Yummy linen napkins and a table runner, a cute little hinge to be made into a piece of jewelry and all that fabulous ironstone!!

I'm a happy camper!!!!!

Welcome to Where Bloggers Create 2014

 Hello everyone and welcome to this years Where Bloggers Create party!!! You guys never disappoint.  I am always inspired by your creativity and ingenuity!! 

I can't wait wait to begin visiting all the wonderful studio spaces, but first a little peak at mine.

It really hasn't changed much since last year, but there are a few changes.

That bookcase is new. I'll show you a little more of it later.

 Part of the view I have while sitting at my table. All my most used tools and supplies are right there at my fingertips.

 My encaustic was bottle collection.

 I love this little cubby. It holds some of  my favorite vintage lace pieces.

The newer lace bits that are too short to hang on the wall go in these apothecary jars.

 This bookcase is new to the studio. I had a much smaller one there before and it just wasn't big enough to hold all my fabric. I found this one at Goodwill. It started out at $79.00 but while I was there looking at it, one of the employees came over and changed the price to $30.00! With my 20% coupon it came to only $24.00 and it's real wood! I added the scrolly wood bits and painted it with ASCP. (Truly my most favorite paint now!)

 I have a fabric fetish. It's hard to control myself buying it but I have to. There just isn't enough room for any more.

 This is where I keep all my jewelry making supplies. The cabinet on the bottom was a garage sale find and wood box on top is a new addition to the studio.

I move all my bling and doodads from plastic storage boxes into these drawers. The drawers are easily removed so I'm very happy with the change.

 The cabinet on the wall came from Ikea a few years ago. It holds spay inks and stains and scapbook type bits and baubles. I drilled holes in the bottom shelf and added a dowel. It keeps my rayon seam binding neat and easy to access without it getting tangled.

The pink side table is also a new addition. I'll show you the before and afters in a later post. It was also painted with ASCP. (Antoinette)

 Above that Ikea cabinet sits all my jars of buttons.

 This cute little piece is also new. It holds all my glitter including Stickles, German glass glitter and my favorite... Martha Stewart glitters because they are so fine and lovely.

Some of the glitter sits on top in pretty salt and pepper shakers.

 This cubby is new this year too. I found it at a garage sale for $5.00. I'm sure it was a shoe organizer. It's not perfect, but it will do for now.

 It functions beautifully and keeps laces and trims in view for easy access. Plus they are pretty to look at!!

 I meant to get this lamp painted before. Another case of two many projects... too little time!!

 Above the cubby I have some of my favorite cabinet cards from my "adopted" ancestors and the train case I recently re did.

Laces hang on the wall so it's easy for me to see what I have and be able to look through them quickly, (again) I think they're really pretty!!!  The door pocket organizer holds all kinds of things from paper ephemera to vintage ladies gloves.

Well, that's my studio!! Hopefully next year I will be showing you a whole new space!
