A few Christmas pics before the big day!

I know I am sooo very late in getting a post like this out, but I felt like since I haven't changed things much since last year... maybe you wouldn't want to see it again. Then my hubby pointed out the things that are different this year, so I put together a little sampling of Christmas here in our home.

I had a large spot on the mantle that needed to be filled up with something, so I wrapped up a couple of boxes to look like pretty packages. (It's really the only time we get to see really pretty wrapping since I have all men in my house and they use whatever they can find including newspaper to wrap up gifts!! LOL!)

We have been collecting vintage toys the past couple of years to put under the family room tree.
The bicycle was refurbished by my sweetie last year, and this years addition was this sweet baby doll carriage that hubby found on ebay.
The mantle is pretty much the same as last year. Every year I am able to add more silver tea pots and creamers to the tree collection.

I do love to break out the snowmen!!

I left the greenery off of the chandelier this year as really cuts down on the light, but I did my cut glass Christmas balls to it.

I really didn't do anything to the centerpiece other than adding a few pieces of Christmas greenery.

Most of the photos in the house were replaced with photocopies of old family photos at Christmastime. These two are my Mom and Aunt visiting Santa in the late 40's and my sister in law with her new baby carriage. (She was really only a baby herself)

I still love silver bowls full of ornaments.

I do like to add real greenery whenever I can. I just dries out so fast here in this climate!

In the entryway I have my old Remington typewriter, with lyrics to "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"
*****************
If you are celebrating Christmas with friends or family I hope it is full of warmth and happiness.
May all that is good and pure in the world touch you in every way.

Merry Christmas my friends!!

Sweet Flea at Sweet Salvage

Hello my friends!! I hope you are all enjoying this most wonderful time of the year!!!
I had to take a break from the Christmas chaos to go enjoy one of my favorite Sweet Salvage events... The Sweet Flea!!

I have a thing for old watering cans. I use them all over my garden! These two were fabulous with their long slender spouts.

One of the things that makes this event so special is the wonderful markdowns on many of the items and the fact that throughout the entire building there are little stickers on things that say... Take Me! I'm Free!!!! (I mean really... I've never seen that anywhere else. What a wonderful way for the folks at Sweet to say thank you to their ever growing fans!!)

This crown pediment would be awesome above a bed!!! Especially with a toile fabric like they have here.

One of my personal favorite "rooms" this month. Calm and soothing to the eye, it is filled with all kinds of eye candy!

I love the old picture frames, and the paint job on the furniture pieces was really beautiful.

If you are like me and a fan of silver anything.... there is more than enough of it at this show!!

Can't they just wrap it all up for me?????

Another favorite of mine is brown or green transferware.

I swear the stuff just makes me giddy!!!

Are you a fan of industrial letters?? They have few lying around!!!

Need some old spindles to wrap your lace stash on???

I have an architectural salvage fetish too. Fences, gates, shutters, corbels... I want it all!!!

This wrapping paper is so sweet. It has a pink tint and is covered with french ephemera.

Still looking for a gift for your favorite 4 legged friend?? I found the perfect thing!!! LOL!!

Mmmmmm...... linens. :)

As always, they manage to find wonderful manni's !! Some day my studio will be bigger and I will room for some!!!

The clothes rack always looks divine. Most of the stuff is too small to fit on my large frame, but I love looking at it anyway!!

That's it for this month! If you have a chance, pop over and visit. I know they keep adding marked down items and freebies all weekend!!

My Christmas Angels Bedroom

Hello my friends and Merry Christmas to all of you celebrating this wonderful holiday!
I thought I would share with you what I do in my bedroom for Christmas. The theme for the room is Angels.

I found some great metal angel wings at a local store nearby, and have moved my architectural salvage angel from my studio into the bedroom for the season.

The angel wings were all rusted and really quite wonderful, but the deep rust color just did not look good  above the bed, so out came my paints and a sponge!!!
I think if I leave them outside for a little while after I am finished with them for the season, some more of the natural rust will come through the paint and then I will seal them up!!

I found this sweet and very real looking tree and it's container at IKEA!!
On top of my tall dresser sits some of the bottle angels I made last year
and a new hanging angel I made this year.

She is made out of cardstock and crepe paper.

The angel on the box, was made from a old gold and amber glass box that was given to me by my mom. I'll try and find the before shots and show that to you in a future post.

On the long dresser below the garland sits more of my bottle angels.

The garland is wrapped in a wonderful burlap and lace ribbon that I found at Hobby Lobby, and the believe ornaments were purchased at the last Sweet Salvage sale.

I printed out some lovely angel pics and glued them to heavy cardstock, cut out the star shape and added platinum Stickles to the outer edge.

My bedroom office also got a bit of Christmas cheer. Like the bedroom side, a wreath  hangs in the window.

My mannequin definitely got a promotion by becoming an angel herself.  I just went into a party store and found a pair of costume wings. Two simple staples in the back (that sounds painful!) and she became angelic. I like it so much, I will probably leave her that way year round!!

Well, that's my bedroom for the holiday! I'll see you all soon, and again, Merry Christmas!

Help for a fellow Blogger

Hello my friends!! I have some information that I would like to share with you! I'm sure many of you are familiar with with a very talented lady named Karen Bailey. She has a blog called Todolwen and has been creating beautiful and inspiring things for some time now. Well, unfortunately she decided to make some changes to her blogs URL and as result broke all the links to her blog.

If you have her in your blog roll, or have her blog button on your blog, or even have followed a Pinterest image, you will find that those links will no longer take you to her blog, but instead will take you to a page that says "This blog has been removed".

It really stinks, but there is no way that we have found to get her old blog URL back, so as a result, Karen has had to start over. Fortunately, we were able to save all her previous pots, so the blog hasn't really disappeared,  it's just had to change addresses.

The new address for Karen's blog is www.todolwen.ca
If you have been a fan of Karen's blog, please pop over there and follow her again. And if you didn't know about Karen's blog before... hey... you just found another great blog to follow!!!!

Snowman Class Pics!

Last weekend I held my vintage style snowman class here at my house. I decided to break it up into 2 separate classes since a few of the girls couldn't come on Saturday.

Friday there were just the 4 of us so we played in the kitchen where there was lots of light!

 Making the base.

You know you are having a good time when there is glitter and glue everywhere!!!!

That is Joy, Sandie, and Denise. We had a wonderful day laughing and sharing creative fun.

Joy put a homemade hymnal in her snowman!

Denise snowman is a gift for her son, he needed to be more traditional and masculine.

Sandie brought a Tim Holtz pocketwatch with her that she filled with a clock image and those cute snowflake buttons.

Gini, Jennifer, Kelley, Suzy and Lynne

On Saturday I had 5 more ladies join me. We were supposed to have 6 but Jennifer's friend Sue couldn't make it at the last minute. "You were missed Sue!"

That's Suzi's daughter Kelley. She stepped out from the pack and decided to paint and glitter her snowman's hat red! It looked wonderful!!

Jennifer adding details to her snow duck, I mean snowman!! (Sorry... it's an inside joke!!!)

 Lynne's little cutie...

 and Suzi's!!!

Unfortunately, some of the girls left before I had a chance to take photos!!
We truly did have a wonderful time. I made lunch and we yacked away spending some much needed girl time together!

Thank you all so much ladies for a wonderful class!!

This one is mine. I decided to change things up and use an egg shape for the base since I already have several made with the cone.

If you would like to learn how to make one of these, the tutorial is still for sale here !!!
