Such amazing news!!!

I am so excited, I'm bursting at the seams to share this news! I got an email the other day from Jo Packham, the president of Where Women Create. She said she heard about my party and came over to check it out. She was thrilled with what we had put together and wanted to be a part of the festivities next year! So the magazine will be sponsoring our next creative spaces soiree!!! There will be prizes and party favors and the support of a fabulous magazine!!! Can you believe it???? WAIT! It gets so much better! This fall they are going to come out and do a photo shoot of MY studio!!! It will appear in the May/June issue along with a story about the party. Then I will hold next years party sometime in June. The number of new people that will know about the party is mind boggling! But wait.... there's more. One lucky guest will be chosen and the magazine will come out and do a photo shoot of THEIR creative space for a future issue!!!! And then after all that, she said they will probably do a story about the party in Artful Blogging as well! OMG. You should have seen me doing the happy dance all over my house yesterday! This is a dream come true. Somebody pinch me!!!!

To all my friends...

So here we are, Sunday night, and there are still so many of you enjoying the amazing spaces that have been posted for the party. This has been successful beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you so much for your sweet comments and gracious emails (I'm still working on getting back to many of you.) They have been so full of love and excitement over the event. It makes me so happy to know that my party was the catalyst many of you needed to fix up your spaces and prepare them to function as they were intended... to provide you a place to let your creativity soar!!! I just can't convey how much that means to me. I think we all want to help or touch others in a special way and even though this party wasn't a world changing event... for some of you it was a life changing experience, even if it was on a small scale.
Thank you, thank you, thank you
from the bottom of my heart to all of you who participated, and all of you who came along for the ride. It was great fun!!!! Maybe we'll do it again next year???

I'll leave the links up until Friday so you all have a chance to finish your visits or return to some favorites. I hope you all made many new friends, as I did.

It'sParty Time!!!

Wow. I can't believe the party day is finally here. It feels like I've been planning forever! Thank you so much to all of you who are participating and all of you are just coming around to soak up all the creative energy! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine such a fabulous turnout! Let's have some fun!!!

I got my studio when my son Brian moved out of the house 3 years ago. So you see, my loss was also my gain. It was so wonderful to finally have a room of my own to create in or just hang out if I wanted to. I searched the second hand stores for a dining room table and found one I thought was perfect. I also purchased the dresser above that I painted black and distressed. It holds all of my ribbon grouped by color and in large plastic bags.

The small black cabinets hold lots of small supplies and came from JoAnne in their unfinished furniture section.

These curtains I made myself using shirring tape. It's a wonderful thing and makes creating professional looking drapes very easy.

This is one of my little notebooks I make.

My cabinet is a recent addition. I knew I wanted some kind of wall storage there, but hadn't found the right thing. On a recent trip to Ikea, I found it. Unfortunately it was red, but was on sale, so of course I took it home and painted it.

If you click on the photo it will enlarge and you can see the detail inside. I covered the inside with old letters, book pages, dictionary pages and postcards. It's now one of my favorite pieces.

I think I've shown you this before, but I'll show it again. I love my ceiling tile bulletin board.

I love my room.

Home made chandelier puts off just enough light to brighten up a dark corner.

My little silver serving dishes work great to hold things I use all the time.

Lazy Susan from Michaels.

This is part of my view when I'm working at the table. I'm always looking for cool old frames.

Inside the closet, is where I store supplies that are not so pretty to look at... although the decorative boxes help.

My little cubby hole unit came from Pottery Barn a few seasons ago. Love it!!!

One of my decorative pots. They are so much fun to make!!

This clock was actually a STEAL at Goodwill for $9.99.

This is the rest of the view while I'm sitting and working. I have a DVD player set up and can watch whatever I want. NetFlix is Awesome! Right now I'm going through the whole Desperate Housewives series.

Well, that's it! My favorite room in the house. I hope I didn't bore you all with to many photo's. It was so hard to narrow them down!! Now, I am off to go look at the rest of the work spaces owned by all you talented and creative people out there. Please excuse me if it takes me a while to get to you. I want to take my time and soak up each one!!!

Bye for now!!!

White Wednesday Party Preview

For this weeks White Wednesday I am presenting whites from my studio, in anticipation of Fridays Where Bloggers Create Party. I love Daisy's. They are one of my favorite flowers, and when I can, I love to have them brightening up my studio.

Mmmmm...white cheddar cheese popcorn. Snacky goodness for those late night munchies while I am working on a project.

Buttons, buttons, buttons!!! I love them. I love the way they look on a project, and how they feel when I shuffle through them in the jar.

I use these dominoes occasionally
in an art piece, but
mostly I just like to look at them!

What self respecting studio would be complete without glitter!!!

And of course, paint. I use all kinds, but
these little
squeeze bottles are so convenient.

I go through LOTS of paper towels!

And finally, sponges for blending
and applying chalks or inks.
They are really very useful.

I hope you enjoyed this little mini tour of
white studio goodies.
Head on over to Faded Charm
to see the rest of this weeks
White Wednesday wonders.

2nd Time Around and White Wednesday- Architectural Salvage

My post for this weeks 2nd Time Around Tuesday and White Wednesday are pics of the way I use architectural salvage in my home. The photo above is a shot of my guest bathroom. The baluster posts are a great way to add a little decorative shelf. I added a small corbel on the shelf just because I thought it was pretty.

The shot below is of my living room. I put candles on the posts when I want to add more mood lighting.

The last photo is from my Master Bathroom. Here, an old shutter was turned into an awesome shelf. I just added a small spring loaded curtain rod to hold the towel.
Thanks for coming over and visiting!

While I have your attention... Can anyone tell me who's blog hosts the 3 or more Thursday?? (I think it's Thursday?) I've looked all over and I can't find it! Thanks so much everyone, See you next time!

New Artwork.

I finished two mixed media shadowboxes this week. The one on top is small...5.5"X 6". I learned this wonderful technique for making the frame at a class given by Julie Haymaker Thompson. I took her concept changed it up quite a bit. The floral embellishments were made with paper flowers, vintage book pages, buttons and music sheets. I've added it to my Artfire shop.. what the heck. I'll see what happens.

The one below is the second in a series of 5 that I am making for my studio. This one is 12X12. The concept of using vintage hardware as the main focus was Julie's idea, but it was so me!!! I made a few changes, and added the floral embellishments etc. I was so happy with the results I had to do a whole set of them. I've got keys and clock faces and tape measures for the rest. You'll see it hanging in the studio in a couple of weeks for the Where Bloggers Create party.
