Blissful Whites Wednesday- Dining Chair Slipcovers

Happy Wednesday my friends!!  I thought I'd hook up with Becky's Blissful Whites Wednesday and show you the dining room chair slipcover's I made. They are made from linen that I bought at JoAnne's with a coupon (Don'tcha love coupons??)  The black chairs needed just a bit of softening.
I made  a template from brown paper and then cut the fabric for the seat several inches bigger so it would drape over the edge. I secured the back corners with big bows and secured the front corners with hidden ribbon from underneath. I think they turned out pretty good!!

The top of the table has a simple little centerpiece with sweet daisies and 5 mason jars that I wrapped with twine and stuck candles in. I don't care what time of year it is... daisies always make me smile.
I hope they made you smile and brightened your Wednesday too!!!

Tuna Noodle Casserole

I have been meaning to share some recipes on my blog for over a year now. Isn't it amazing how time just flies away!! Well, I have been having so much fun pinning all kinds of yummy recipes on Pinterest, that I'm finally getting off my butt and sharing some of my favorites with all of you.

Now, I am by no means an awesome cook. Of all the wonderful skills I inherited from my mother, being a great cook was not one of them. I like simple recipes with minimal ingredients that produce delicious results. This tuna noodle casserole is one of those recipes.  Every one I have ever served this to, has loved it. Believe me, it's better than your average tuna casserole.

If you like tuna, this is perfect for a luncheon, or a weekday dinner for your family. So here is the recipe!!! I hope you give it a try... it's really good. :)

What you will need:

8oz. of egg noodles (or if you prefer, No-Yolks noodles are what I use)
3 cans of tuna (I highly recommend using solid white albacore)
2 cups of sour cream
3/4 c. milk
1 lb. mushrooms
1/3 c. shredded Parmesan cheese
7-8 Tbsp. butter
seasoned breadcrumbs (I use Italian seasoned)

What you will do:

Cook the mushrooms in 3-4 tbsp. of the butter until soft. Set aside
Cook the noodles according to package directions. Set Aside.
In a large bowl,  combine all the ingredients and mix well.
Put in a large, buttered casserole dish.

Melt 2-3 more tbsp. of butter in the pan and add enough breadcrumbs to soak up all the butter, but not so much that the mixture looks dry.
Sprinkle over the top of the casserole.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35-45 min.

Enjoy!!!!!

Upcycled Army Bag

Last month at Sweet Salvage, I picked up this old Army bag. It smelled a little musty, but I had high hopes that I could turn it into something really cool. It has a long leather handles that can be strapped across the body if needed, and lots of pockets. I got it home and hauled out my stash of lace, burlap webbing and metal doodads.

And, here is the finished project!! I am so happy with the way it came out. I've already taken it out for a spin and gotten many comments on it. It has a cool shabby, industrial feel to it, don't you think??
I mean, who wants to carry a bag that looks like everyone else's?

I added lace and burlap furniture webbing to the top flap and added some twisted fabric roses to make sure it had enough feminine appeal.

Then more lace and some fun finds for the pockets.

It will be perfect to take with me on my next flea market adventure, as it has so much room inside to carry many little trinkets.

Green Acres at Sweet Salvage

Once again I would like to take you with me to Sweet Salvage's monthly sale. This month... Green Acres! There was a wonderful mix of rustic farmhouse and elegant bling!!

I missed these roles of burlap when I was there. How is that possible??? I wasn't in shopper mode, I was photographer mode!! Darn! I wish I would have picked one of those up. I really like the stripes!

The layering of furniture and vignettes was wonderful as always. I swear I wish I had a second home I could decorate! I just don't have room for any more pieces of furniture!

The predominant color scheme is one of my favs! Brown, Green and White!!!

They even have been carrying some cool new and vintage clothing. I fell in love with this eternity scarf. It was soft and cozy and could be worn long or wrapped twice as shown. I liked it so much, when Katie brought a second one in another color for a price check, I bought that one too!!!
I almost took home the brown crocheted one, but I tried to practice a little restraint!! LOL!

This did not come home with me, but there is something about it, I really liked.

I'm a sucker for ivy, empty frames and suitcases...

and funky wall art! I also adore those little wire baskets on the ladder.

Cute huh??
I really liked this black and white wall art piece.

And here is a shot for those of you who like a little color in your life!

I really had to restrain myself from bringing home another kitchen scale. I wanted to ironstone pitchers too! I would love to have a whole collection of ironstone in a great open cabinet. Again... I need another house!!!

I wish these photos could give you an accurate image of what it's like to walk into this place. My heart pounds faster and I get excited every month! The thrill of the hunt is just too much fun!!!

Trust me... stop using Internet Explorer

Hi Ladies! Hope your week is wonderful so far! I wanted to share with you a little bit of info.

I've had several clients contact me because when they go to upload a picture to their blog, the option to upload from their computer is no longer there. The first thing I ask is... "Are you using Internet Explorer?" What do you think the answer always is??? Yes, you guessed it. They always answer yes.

I've mentioned this before, but I thought I would mention it again. If you want your blog to function at it's best, if you want to see all the pretty things on blogs they way they should be seen, if you don't want to have problems all the time... Stop using Internet Explorer! (I would have put that in all Caps, but I didn't want it to seem like I was yelling at you.)

Internet Explorer just does not keep up with with all the different changes that happen on the Internet all time. Unfortunately, because it comes on all PC's, most people just use the browser that came on their computer. There are much better choices out there ladies!!

So what should you use?? Firefox or Google Chrome. Both are excellent. Blogger recomends either one as  a compatible browser. And by the way... Safari users.... You need to switch too.

Please trust me ladies. Once you get used to using a new browser, you'll never look back!!!

Burlap Coffee Sack Purse

I've been having fun making accessories for myself lately. I find I enjoy wearing things that I made very much, but since I can't sew my own clothes, purses and jewelry are next best thing!
Do you remember the last post where I showed you some pics of burlap  coffee sacks from Sweet Salvage??
Well this is what I did with one!! My friend Cindy (who lives in Texas) visited me last year and had the coolest bag made from a coffee sack. I fell in love and decided since I couldn't buy one from the designer of Cindy's bag, I would make my own!!

Since I wear neutrals 75% of the time, I wanted it to be neutral as well, so I added this pretty black and cream damask to the back and one side of the handle.

And to give it a little bit more personality, I used a pretty aqua blue and brown print for the lining and floral print for the pockets.

The leather fringe came from Ebay and it's a good thing the vendor had more than one yard, because I had to order a second yard after my sweet little piggy of a Corgi ate the first yard!!
I used some of my stash of vintage lace around the edges and the top and finished  off the top edge with a cool black trim from Hobby Lobby.

The finishing touch was a flower pin made from an old scarf, cheesecloth and vintage bling!!
I'm really happy with the way it turned out, since I did not use a pattern and just kind of winged it!!!

btw... I did just notice that my watermark still has 2012 on it!! LOL! I guess I better fix that.... next time!!!! (you understand.)
