Autumn in my Garden

October and November are 2 of my favorite months in my garden. In October, although the days are still hot, the evening cool down and are fabulous for sitting outside and enjoying some music in the company of my sweetie. I light candles and we just hang out together with no distractions from the TV or telephone.

My garden loves this time of year too. No more 114 days. It hovers in the 80's now and will start to drop down to the 70's during the day over the next few weeks.

Mums add some wonderful fall color. I like to buy a few extra pumpkins to leave whole and embellish the garden until Thanksgiving. Sometimes I carve a turkey into one of the pumpkins for a great centerpiece. You have to think ahead though and get your pumpkin now or there won't be any come Thanksgiving!

Making pumpkin luminaries is easy with the right attachments on a power drill!!!

We have to overseed the lawn every year with annual rye grass. It has come in very nicely. It will be soft and bright green all the way through May.

I hope you all had a safe and happy Halloween. We didn't have very many Trick or Treaters this year. It seems to be fewer and fewer every year. I miss the old days when Halloween was a huge celebration. I'm sure it probably is where some of you live.

Thank you so much to everyone who left a comment about my shop. I really appreciate the support. It can be very scary to take that first step don't you think? I'll try to add more things before the holidays.

Have a wonderful Monday!!!

Our days of anything over 50 are nearly gone, so enjoy your 80s. After the rain we've had I would have paid to have a day of 60s.

Very pretty patio ... isn't it wonderful to just sit & hear the quiet?

Your garden looks so lovely this time of year and I love that lavender adirondack chair! What a great pop of color on your patio! We had an 80 degree day 2 days ago but now that is a distant memory until next year. November is here now! Have a wonderful week ahead!~Patti

I love your garden, wish I knew what your secret is. My plants just don't seem to make it through the summer here.

What a beautiful patio and garden and I love the fall touches. It would be so nice to have green grass (not covered in snow) all year!

I am so jealous! I love your garden. Over here in Luxembourg it is cold and rainy. However the colors of the falling leaves are lovely. Unfortunately 3 of us (6) are having the flu, including myself. We are always ill in November. Have a nice day,

Natacha

Our temps are about the same as you right now, but rather muggy and dreary out. Just can't seem to rain and has been like that the past couple of years. Your garden area is so beautiful! Definitely a peaceful place to chill. All the best, :) Tammy

Karen, Your garden says welcome, come and sit a while. You need a good book and glass of ice tea to welcome November to your part of the world.

Just read about your slipcovers & I too am overwhelmed with color. I have the sofa & loveseat in the living room in a fabric with a LOT of color. I have loved them for 0 years but, I want neutral. The whole room is so busy it is almost like it is screaming at me. I had met a gal that does slip covers & I am having her come give me an estimate. I love your new cover. Also, your garden is wonderful. I know about living where it is so hot that when fall comes... it is such a treat. Off to check out your new shop. Congratulations on getting it open. That's on my list too but, the list seems so long! ~Charlene

Your garden is GORGEOUS!!! You are absolutely right about getting your pumpkins early for Thanksgiving! I love to decorate for Thanksgiving and this year I only bought a couple of big pumpkins before Halloween & meant to go back & get more, but after Halloween there were none to be found in any stores here!!!!

I can relate to your weather---It's in the 70's now here in my part of TX (north central)--so much better than the over 100 degrees that we had here, too! Now it's nice to actually enjoy the outdoors!

Do you mind me asking what program you use to get the white scrolly designs on the edges of your photos? I love that & have noticed other bloggers doing that also, but haven't been able to find out how to do that. Thanks, and have a great weekend! Patti
