Some girls want jewelry....
Some girls want jewelry for their birthday, others want fancy vacations... but I'm not your average girl. What do I want???? Tools!!!!! This is what my sweetie gave me for my birthday this year. It was a complete surprise (although I have been whining about needing my own tools for all my projects. ) I mean, you can't go ask your husband every time you want to hang a picture or refinish a piece of furniture can you??? Well now I don't have to!!! Yippee!!!
The box was huge and inside each and every package of tools was beautifully wrapped in my husband's favorite wrapping paper. What is that you ask???? Newspaper of course!
Pliers and wire cutters of every size and shape for every project from large to small...
New paint brushes, painters tape, spackle knives, dust masks, and primer..... (oh I'm getting all excited!)
Sandpaper for my Mouse sander, (the best all purpose sander out there in my opinion) a coping saw and very chic eye protection.
Screwdrivers with magnetic tips, a small square with a built in level, and a 30' tape measure with nice BIG numbers so it's easy to read. (I'm not as young as I used to be.)
Now I will never again have to bug my guy to go find this tool or that one whilst in the middle of a project, and to top it all off... everything matches!
I have the best husband in the whole word. Diamonds???? Bahhh!! Who needs them?

KAren ~ I am much the same, give me practicle things and my little heart goes pitter patter! I love this kiond of gift much more than girly stuff. How odd is that?
On another note, than you so much for stopping by to offer comfort after Star wnet to heaven. We miss her an awful lot, and our home is so quiet without her. It was so touching to hear everyone's comments. How lucky I am to meet so many wonderful folks in blogland.

Funny how we change as we move along! I too have been into buying tools lately & hubby sees much humor in this. My new toys of the week... a torch & pipe cutter. And he gave me his dremel set. Are we a pair or what?
Can't believe you are supposed to be soooooooo warm this week. The snow was pretty but, the cold wind today could chill you to the bone. Just glad the sun was out. HUGS! Charlene
thats the best gift EVER..I love gifts like that, for our twentith aniversary, I got a bbq..LOVED IT!!!
What a wonderful gift! Every girl NEEDS her own tools!
Fabulous gift... give me tools, rather than diamonds any day... much more pratical! Your hubbie clearly had a lot of fun thinking about what you needed and putting together such a useful selection.
Its my birthday next week and the list consists of blow torch, etching solution, new wire-cutters and a dremel tool!!
Really enjoying visiting here - so creative and inspirational. Thank you! xxx
I can just imagine the looks he would have got if he told people he was buying his wife tools for her birthday! : ) I'm glad I'm not the only one. The first Christmas I had my business up and running I asked for tools. Sweetie, that my hubby is he even got me a great toolbox that year, to put them all in too!
heheheh...wait till you go into Harbor Freight...oh my..tools galore!

Again, right up my alley, Karen. I love tools especially the kind that will fit comfortably in a ladies hand. I've had my own tool stash for a long time and do you know what? My husband has come in and taken some of my screwdrivers! What nerve! But I don't mind, I just gather them up and put them back in my 'tool box'. Love your nice selection of pliers. You have a very nice start for your tool stash.
Enjoy!
Linda
I love it Karen. what a great gift I would of like a gift like that too...and cant wait to see your next project using your new tools
Hugs Norma
ME! I want, need, desire, hope for...fill in whatever...diamonds. Very nice tools...glad you are happy...
I am with you Karen! Diamonds..eh..I'd rather have something not so fancy and that I can use all the time! Great Hubby!!!
Your hard core sister! I love it. I got a wet saw one year, that was when I was in my mosaic phase. Then I got a soldering iron last year. I think we need to register at Lowes, huh? Happy B day again Karen! Lisa
I completely agree with you Karen!
My tools are precious to me and I care for the accordingly. So much so...my hubby borrows from me because I know exactly where my tools are and they are ready to use at all times.
There...it's out for public consumption...I LOVE TOOLS!
Congratulations on your fantastic gift from your very thoughtful husband!

Now that is a gift of love. How wonderful a gift. Sea Witch
Love it..I remember a few years ago.....I wanted a pink and black tool kit from Target.
My hubby must have went to every one...until he found it in stock.
Mine does not have as much as yours but I sure love it :)
Karen, you do have the best hubby! I'm drooling over your gift. I used to ask my dad for sanders and scroll saws for Christmas. My brother gave me a dremel tool for my birthday. Good boys, for sure!

What a great gift!!! My husband gave me a new computer for Valentine's Day, he told me he wanted to get me something more romantic, but knew I had rather have the computer!! Not that I would'nt love something romantic, but I really needed a new computer!

Tools are the girls best friends!!!
Lucky girl, you have an husband that really does understand you!!!
For several Christmas, I ask my husband some of my ancient dreams: once a banch saw, once a miter saw, another a router.
He shaked his head, but he bought.
Now that I have all the tools I dreamed, he gives me... manicure, body lotions, face cleaning.
I suppose he married the wrong girl.... ;D

That is a most awesome birthday present. My husband was sitting next to me when I read your post and I was hinting that that would be a very appreciated gift. LOL. Have fun with all those great tools!

Oh, Karen, your husband is a real gem! What a great assortment of necessities. It's so important to have the right tool for each job. I discovered the Black & Decker electric sander a couple years ago and it changed my life!
