Sweet Salvage Goodies

Last week I told you about the amazing new shop on 7th Ave called Sweet Salvage. Today I thought I would share with you a few of the things I bought. The biggest and best find was this awesome birdcage! I have been looking for one for quite some time but they have always been out of my price range. When I saw this HUGE iron cage I was immediately attracted to it, but when I saw the price tag I knew I had to have it! $99.00??? Really? I've seen them half the size and twice the price! I want to put a shelf in it and turn it into a display cabinet. What do you think???

I also found this pretty wooden shoe form for a woman's high heel shoe. I'm not sure if I'm going to alter it or leave it exactly as it is. The door knob is to add to my stash of bottle making making goodies. I've been making them like  crazy!! (But that's a whole other post)

My last favorite find was this lovely old type drawer. I really liked it for a couple of reasons. The size was perfect and smaller than most I have seen. It fits perfectly on my desk and holds the doo dads and what nots that I am currently using. I also really liked the drawer pull. It's just a really nice little detail.

I bought a few other odds and ends but these were my favorite pieces.

I hope you have (had) a wonderful weekend!

Love the birdcage. I was lucky to find a huge vintage parrot cage for free that someone was getting rid of. I spray painted it pink and now it's a topic of conversations! I would love to see what you do with yours.

Hi Girlfriend,

How have you been? Love all the goodies you bought, especially the birdcage. I gotta' question for ya; if I was needing more help on my blog, would it be easier for you to come here or me to come out there? What kind of charges do you have for just messin' around and beautifying my blog?

Hugs,
Meri

Treasures! I love all things bird. I recently found this quote: "Be as a bird per ched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath her, still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings." (Victor Hugo)

Hi Karen! Looks like a wonderful place to shop! I love the bird cage. Great idea to use for a display cabinet. Love the doorknob. And the typing drawer-awesome! Would love to have one myself. I just bought one of the shoe forms for a dear friend that can't get them where's she's from. Can't wait til she gets it! I saw one made into a door knocker one time-it was sooo cool! :)
Sweet Salvage looks like my place to shop!
Many hugs to you,
Sonya

tu as raison, cette cage est super belle, c'est une bonne idée de lui ajouter une étagère pour y mettre des décorations, et le petit tirroir est très pratique pour y ranger des petites choses
bon week end

Hi Karen, Great type drawer and I too love the handle! I too have been bit by the bottle bug and they make great gifts, been saving bottles all my life as my Husband was a bottle collector so you can image the various types and sizes, colors ect. I knew you purchased the Birdcage as soon as I saw it on your blog last week! Have fun sweetie and enjoy the journey and have fun at the Creative Connection gathering! Love you, Marilou

Hi Karen
I like the bird cage and drawer, 2 things I would have bought. I would never think to make a bird cage into a display case though, hope you share if this project comes about.

I love the shoe last. I have a child's one that has lived several places in the house, but currently is in the bedroom the grandkids use when they come. Can't wait until I get a day to go to Sweet Salvage.

Oh Karen you really did come away with a great cache of goodies too! I once saw an Italian Rose Tole standing Birdcage on the cover of a Romantic Home Mag and fell in lust with it... fast forward years later and I'm trolling downtown Glendale Antique District & go into a little Shop & here's the EXACT Birdcage in the back! *Be still my beating Heart* I was almost afraid to peek at the price... but when I did and it was a mere $125 I couldn't drag it to the Register fast enough... I looked like a Birdcage Looter I was moving so fast! *winks* It still stands pride of place in our Livingroom and I've put Moroccan Tea Glasses filled with votives in it, which cast a Romantic Glow. I think making shelves in yours would look fab... share the Photos when you do. I can hardly wait for this Month's Sweet Salvage Event... I'm in a Harvest Moon Vibe already...
