My trip to Round Top/Canton Tx

I think I have finally recovered from the week and a half long junk'n extravaganza that my my friend Katie from Sacred Heart Studios and I went on. We traveled across the country to the great state of Texas for the Round Top antiques fair and then, as if that wasn't enough, we drove another 3 hours north to attend another antique show in Canton Tx!

Katie and I both love the country side in that part of the country. Lots of green rolling hills and trees!

The only thing I didn't love??? The humidity!!! Holy cow! For a couple of Arizona girls, it was definitely something to get used to! (Which we did not!!! LOL!)

I picked up some wonderful goodies that will slowly appear in my booth at Rusty Saturday!
That fabulous french Wine basket was a find of Katie's and will eventually show up in her space at Rust and Roses.
I made a list of things of things I was looking for before I left...
Architectural Salvage
Ironstone
Transferware
Vintage Linens
Old Scales
Old Wire Baskets
Grain Sacks
Chippy Old Picture Frames
Small Furniture pieces with natural aged patina
Bling
Tarnished Silver
Old Clocks
.... after the trip I went through my list ...
I got everything I had wanted!!!
I tried putting myself on a linen restriction after the first few bag fulls... Ha! That did not last long! I just cant help myself!

While the junk'n part of the trip was the best part, there were some other pretty awesome perks!!
Texas Bar-b-que!!!!

Seriously?? Who can resist warm peach cobbler and ice cream!! Thankfully we walked and worked off all the calories!!!

Another highlight of our trip!! Getting to play with a pen of miniature Australian Shepherds!!!
That puppy is almost as cute as Katie is!!!
I seriously did not want to give him back!!!!

Some of my fabulous finds from Texas are already cleaned up and in booth my Rusty Saturday. This weekend is also The Salvage Yard weekend, so it's the perfect weekend to come and visit!!

Looks like you had a fun time! I tried to talk my SIL and your friend, Donna H, into coming to Round Top this year. It would have been fun to meet up. I didn't make it down there either, but maybe next year we can all meet at Round Top. I hear great things about Canton too. I'll start putting together a list of things to look for too. That was a great idea, by the way. ;-) Have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Nici

Love these pictures and I was so praying it wasn't humid this time.

Karen,
I was in Round Top too :) It has been about 12 years since I have been there and oh my...it has really grown. I go to Canton more often, so I've gotta ask you, which area did you find the best stuff at?

Blessings,
Linda

Karen, I'm green with envy that you got to come all that way to shop at such a great event! I've lived in Texas nearly all my life and I've never gotten there. Yup, the humidity can bring even the strongest shopper to their knees! That's why we love to vacation in your neck of the woods. We can walk outside at 7 in the morning and not break out into sweat streams! You found some really yummy things though and that's what it's all about. Not sure how you passed up those puppies !! SWEETHEARTS!

Linen restriction -- that sounds painful. Happy to hear it didn't last long!

I just left Canton too! I didn't make it to Roundtop but wish I had. We had our dogs with us and didn't want to leave them that long in the camper without bathroom breaks. I am so happy you found so many great treasures and enjoyed your trip!

OMG, those puppies are adorable!!!!

And it's true about the humidity. It's pretty awful. I've lived in Texas my entire life and still it kills me. No one is immune. (And it can create havoc with picture taking because the camera lens fogs up).

I live only 10 minutes from Warrenton and went to the show, too. Unfortunately, we skipped a lot of days because of the heat. (I'm not a fan and my mother had heatstroke a couple years ago... in OCTOBER, mind you. Once you get heat stroke you can never take the heat very well at all).

I do regret not visiting Marburger this year. On the day I planned on going, the weather was beautiful for a change but my brother and his wife needed help with the delivery of his new dining table. I hear that day was a record attendance day though, so... probably for the best.

You bought some really cool stuff, I'm sure the trip was great! I didn't make it up the your space this weekend so all the good stuff is probably gone, but I did Love the footstool you posted on FB :) Were you at Merchant Square this AM? Maybe wearing a darling long crochet vest, buying stuff and hanging out with a friend or two? Blessings, Cindy

Texas does have some great antique spots. I've found some of my best antique jewelry finds in San Antonio.

Your trip looks like so much fun! I love hunting for old lace. It's just so much better than any of the new manufactured stuff. It's amazing to see the hand of someone in a piece of lace from 75-100 years ago. Plus, since I make lace myself, it's inspiration for new designs.
