Long Beach Flea Market

This last weekend my sweet man and I made the 6 hour drive from Phoenix to Long Beach for their monthly flea market.  We drove in on Saturday, stayed the night and then got up bright and early in the morning to shop till we dropped!  This was how my day started... with a lovely sunrise and lots of vintage treats!

There are lots of vendors at this market, so there really is something for everyone!

I  really want to find an unfinished dresser like this one so I can paint it myself!!! (although the finish that was done on this one was gorgeous)

There were lots of things I wanted there, but most things were reasonably priced at retail and I needed to find inexpensive things that I could put in my shop!

Around 11 we both needed a little pick me up so we indulged in a soft pretzel. (There are no carbohydrate restrictions when on a road trip!!)

 Got crates???
Here are some of my purchases ready to load up in the car and on the flatbed trailer we brought.

Most things will be repaired, painted or made into something else.

She will go to the shop just as she is, the sewing cabinet will get a new paint job. I think it's height will make it a great entry table.

Got some great iron bases for tables, some cool baskets and these fun chalk board slates!

It was a wonderful weekend and I would definitely go back and do it again.  We did the Rose Bowl flea market several years ago. That was fun too, but the prices at Long Beach were much better.

I could not have done it without my hubby. He made several trips to the car with my treasures whenever they wouldn't fit in my cart or if the cart got too full. He worked his but off for me. I am truly grateful to be married to such  wonderful and supportive husband!!!

(If you are in the Phoenix area and would like to follow along as I bring new stuff into my space at Rusty Saturday, you can follow me on Instagram (@mydesertcottage)! Everytime I redo the space or bring new things in, I post them there!

Long Beach and the Rose Bowl have gotten ridiculous in pricing, just like Orange Circle became. Oh I miss the days when I was hunting 15-20 years ago... before everyone was looking for the same thing. Arkansas and TN used ot be great haunting also but alas folks now know what their old junk goes for and they expect those prices lol

I'd say your man is VERY sweet -- I'm pretty certain I couldn't get mine to drive two hours to a flea market! What great pickings there was -- sounds such fun.

Thanks, Karen, for the review of the Long Beach Flea Market. Your treasures look wonderful. Glad "she" is in good condition. You are tireless! Thank God for that! I live vicariously through other people's shopping experiences. I'm so glad for all the photos. Not everyone would understand the need to take the photos, the need to post the photos, and the fun of taking the photos while shopping.

Oh my Karen!! I was just in LA! I would have loved to meet you. I went to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena for their flea market weekend but we got rained out....I was so sad but had I know of the Long Beach one I would have made an effort to go. I may have to catch you on another trip maybe! You got some really great shabby things and I can't wait to see it all in your shop! Happy travels back sweetie!! xo Jules
