Introducing the newest member of our family....

I thought you guys might like to see one of the things that has been taking up sooo much of my time lately! I would love for you to meet Cooper, a Welsh Springer Spaniel, and the newest member of our family. :)
(This is Cooper at just 12 weeks old when he first arrived home)

Here he is on the ride home from the airport where we picked him up from his first human mommy.

He took no time at all adjusting to his new home and making a place for himself on the couch.

Our first attempt at a selfie!!

He has loved exploring the backyard. I wish I had photos of him running around gleefully playing with whatever stick or branch he could find. It is truly a joy watching him absorb all the sights and sounds of his new home.

This was his favorite place to be for the first month or so that he was here. He was so little he could fit comfortably in this chair in my studio. It was wonderful because he really stayed out of the way while I was painting in there on the floor. He is too big to fit in the chair now, but he still keeps me company in the studio and somehow knows to stay out of the paint!

I just love this photo. I caught him making a nice little place for himself in my rag box!! LOL!

He is about 4 and 1/2 months here and you can see some of the "baby" has left his face.

He has been a joy to live with and has filled an empty hole in our hearts after losing our sweet boy Rocky to cancer back in September. I was afraid to get another Welshie because I was worried he would remind me too much of Rocky, but their personalities are so different it hasn't been a problem.

It's funny... as I look at all these photos, he looks like such a serious puppy! He is not. :) He is silly and playful and really just a big goof ball! I think that serious expression is a Welshie trait.

I am going to go hug my babies now, and spend some time training. The weather has been gorgeous lately and will continue to be so, for another couple of weeks. Gotta go enjoy it while I can!!

So beautiful and sweet, nothing like puppies. My Auntie Jean is one of the top judges in the Us of Spaniels. Her choice of breed that She specialized in is Springer Spaniels, I believe English. She use to breed them in Ontario CA. then went on to Judging. Her top winner I believe was named Dubba. Her name is Jeanette McGinnis. Your photos are lovely-Blessings Your way-Denise

Oh boy, How spoiled is your new baby? Hard not to spoil them when they look at us with those sweet puppy eyes. We had miniature black cocker spaniel for 14 yrs. She was ball of black curly fur, so darned adorable. Got her on Wed. at Helena,MT shelter and on Saturday we left in hubs truck, she thought passenger seat was hers and loved going with us.
Cooper has lost his baby face, hard when they grow up to be big boys. You gave him wonderful name, enjoy your new baby. He is very handsome.
Our dog is black lab/border collie, so smart it's scarey sometimes. His name was Phantom but we didn't like that so called him Tommy, it seemed to suit him just fine. He's 7 1/2 now, we got him at 1 yr.at Pet Smart adoption days, where did years go?
He's my puppy even if he is older. He is so sweet and loving. We feel like we got best of deal and he got forever Mom/Dad/home. And our 14 yr. old cat likes him too, they were buddies from first day we brought Tommy home.
Hope you have great weekend

Dear Karen, having never commented on your blog - now I MUST do so! I love everything you do and write about and am a big fan. But that is now the ultimate post! Cooper looks like my best-ever dog, Perdita. She was a blond English Springer Spaniel and they were not easy to find outside the UK when I still lived in Germany. My love story with Springer Spaniels started 41 years ago in a place called Berchtesgaden, near to Salzburg. It was an American couple who had this gorgeous Springer Spaniel waiting for them for a long time just patiently attached to a fence. He would not look right or left or make any noise and only stay focused to when they would come back and what a joy he had, when that happened. I never have been 'ignored' by a dog in such way, not unfriendly but just indifferent. When I eventually could (afford), I found a breader and got the last puppy. I had many other dogs before and after and they were all fine (I could have invented the saying'a life without dog is an error') but never any dog was so perfectly in tune with me than she was. For the moment, we have only one dog who is a rescue and he is so cute, as well. But he needs and deserves really all of our attention and will stay the one as long as he is with us. Thanks for sharing, I know how happy you are!

I think the serious face is his camera face. "Why are you pointing that thing at me???" face, lol. I have a friend with a camera shy 'crazy' dog I would have to come and take pics of...discreetly. And of 20 or so pics I would take, maybe one would be good. The rest he looked like he was being tortured or he turned his head totally away. Anyway he is adorable, thanks for sharing, Sandi

Hello Karen! New blog friend here :). I saw this post on another blogs sidebar and just had to stop by. Puppies are my weakness!

Cooper is precious. That selfie pic cracked me up. His nose looks so cute there.

I just had a conversation last night with someone who said she hates when dogs lick her face and she would never kiss a dog. I can't imagine NOT kissing a dog, especially your own. But that's just me. For sure Cooper would get tons of smooches from me :).

May you have many, many happy years together!
