Bedroom re-do teaser

Well.... I had the good intentions of showing these great before and after shots of this dresser's transformation but as it turns out I had the camera settings set to high for web photos and it would just take too long for the pics to load. So I decided I would at least give you one shot of the dresser back in it's place. It started out as an old cherry dresser that my sweetie has had for a gazillion years and it looked like it too. The front of the drawers was very plain and it was really beat up. I added the wood scrolly pieces and painted it with a light beige paint. Then I glazed over the whole thing to give it a little more depth. It's still an old dresser but now it has a second life.

The bedroom re-do is coming along fabulously. It's really starting to get the feel that I want. To give you an idea of what I am undertaking here is my list of To- Do's

Paint old brass lamp (from Goodwill) for desk
Make new shade
Paint 6 frames for rose prints
Paint shelves............DONE!
Paint oval mirror
Finish painting quote around room...... DONE!
Paint bulletin board
Paint built in bookshelf
Paint built in cabinets
Paint tissue box cover........DONE!
Paint table next to desk
Paint dresser..........DONE!
Paint doors and trim
Lower mirror on fireplace
Make sheet music plaques (tutorial to follow)
Make pillows
Make new curtains
Hang shelves........DONE!
Make slipcover for desk chair
Hang new wall art........DONE!

I actually got a lot finished this weekend. The room looks presentable. Now it's all the detail work that I have wanted to get done for years. I'll be busy for a while... bit I'm having a great time!!!!!

Here is her address: http://wizardofoncewas.blogspot.com/2010/01/wizard-is-flyin-high.html I believe this is the one. Cuz you and I have similar taste. Her pillows are gorgeous! Yummy.

Yes, you are a tease, Karen! The dresser looks great! I just got a bunch of wood appliques, some of which I'm going to use on a very plain pine armoire we have. I'm going to paint or stain it black {distressed}. I can't wait to see more of the room!

MMMMM....Karen, the paint job on the dresser is great!! I have a dining room table to paint and cannot decide what color to do it....The walls are kind of a "brown-berry" color, the chairs are dark leather (brown) parson chairs....any suggestions?

Oh Karen you meanie! I wanna see it all! You & Shellagh have me wanting a new bedroom so bad. Problem is my master bath is a sorry mess too, so I'd have to do both. I just can't get it together decorating wise lately. I think my kids & hubby's sloppiness has broken my spirit! LOL Well I can live vicariously through you. Can't wait to see more. Your living room & kitchen are TDF! Lisa

Hi Karen!! Has WWC already been to your house???? Jo had to postpone my shoot until March due to her father's health ~ which I can so understand...I'm sure if the photos haven't even been taken yet, my studio will be in a much later issue. I can't wait to see yours though!!! I must buy two of the Somerset publications, Somerset Life and Where Women Create! You are an angel for helping everyone beautify their blogs....isn't that what women truly want?? For everything to be beautiful ~ even their blogs!!! The goodness will come back to you ~ hugs and love, Dawn
