Run to the Pines

My sweetie and I took a break from chores this weekend and decided to take the  3 1/2 hour drive up to Pinetop, Az for the annual "Run to the Pines" classic car show. I could not have asked for a more perfect day. The weather was in the mid 70's (a stark contrast to the 105 degrees they were experiencing in the valley) and the smell of the pine was intoxicating. I honer of fall I created a mosaic from the cars in lovely fall colors!!!!

Pinetop, is up on the  Mogollon Rim, (pronounced Mug-ee-on) and has breathtaking views as far as the eye can see.

There was a time when my  honey and I used to go camping up here (and all over Az wherever we could find trees and water.)  I really miss those days and hope that next Summer I can convince my darling workoholic to take time to smell the roses (or pine) again!!!

Hey Karen It was great to meet you at creative connections. The event truly lived up to it's name. I just finished the Country living show with Jen and her earth angels. I guess that makes me a newbie in the angels group. I can't wait for next year.....CC was fantastic!

My hubby just went camping up in the mountains last weekend, and we're going to go together in a few weeks. If I like it, hopefully it will become a regular getaway for us. I'm looking forward to those cooler temperatures :)

Oh, I miss Pinetop! Used to go there quite a lot when I was a girl--I remember that wonderful pine smell, and the cool breezes at night...ah, memories!

Hi Karen,

This is one of the things I love most about Arizona (not just cuz I was born and raised here)is that you can have the best of both worlds. You can live down here in the valley where it's hot, and then two to three hours later you're in a totally different world, in the cool pines. I also love that we've had a pretty good year for rain and things up north are better than they've been in years.

Hugs,
Meri

What fun! I'm from Canada but drive through that area on the way down to Arizona and back again each year. It is just amazing country!
A real contrast to the desert not far south of there.
Thanks for the beautiful pictures!

Hi Karen, It was wonderful to see the pictures of the Mogollan Rim. We moved to Southern Nevada from Pinetop, Arizona. We lived there for 7 years. I love the white mountains very much and sometimes wish we still lived there. Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories.
