Time and a Table

As I sit down to write this post I realize that once again, it has been weeks since my last one. How is this possible??? I mean, I know that the clocks speed up after you reach 40. Time just flies by and before you know it another year has gone! But I think that in addition to that, time must magically speed up after Halloween too! One day I am doing a post to celebrate Halloween and the next instant I am preparing to fly to Pennsylvania to celebrate Thanksgiving with family! If I'm not careful I will blink, wake up and it will Christmas morning!!!!!
Basically I guess what I want to say is, be careful not to get so wrapped up in the day to day living stuff, that you forget to enjoy all the blessings in your life!!!

Okay, enough ranting... now for the reason I started this post in the first place!

This is a before pic of a table that was passed down to my sweetie and has been adding it's beat up old ugliness rustic charm to our home for many years. I was finally given permission to do with it what I wished. (I did a little happy dance that day)

I decided to leave the legs unpainted and just sanded them and added a dark walnut stain .

I painted the top white and then sanded some of the paint down to give it  that worn charm that we all love so much. Then I painstakingly used an exacto knife and cut out all the flower prints that I printed from my computer. The flowers are called "French Floral Brushes" are by Gypsy Chic.

Then I decoupaged them all on the top using techniques I learned in Vonda's Decoupage class. The next step was to crackle the whole thing, and then finish with two coats of varnish. I am sooo happy with the results. I love it when ugly ducklings turn into swans!!!!

I will be leaving in a couple of days for Pa. and unfortunately hubby's parents are "old school" and don't have internet connection.  I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday filled with friends and family. May we all be grateful for ALL the blessings in our lives. I can honestly say, that you all are one of my biggest!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Hi Karen,

Have a wonderful thanksgiving, but before you leave stop by and sign up to follow me and leave a comment to enter my winter giveaway.

BTW your table is amazing. I had the same table, but with 6 chairs, a china hutch and a buffet. It was my grandma's, but now I've passed it down to one of my nieces for her new home. I wouldn't have been allowed to change a thing on it, though.

Please do not tell me you cut all of that floral border out........OMG, get yourself a Silhouette to do that in the future Missy.

Have a grand holiday, and we'll chat when you get back.

Hugs,
Meri

Karen,

Love the table redo! I am pretty sure my daughter has the same exact table with matching chairs in her first little nest, it belonged to my great aunt but is in pristine condition. I hope you have a wonderful visit with family and a very blessed holiday!

The table looks lovely. I just finished a decoupage treatment on two doors and cutting everything out is very tedious but the end result is always worth it!

Oh my goodness! You did all of this with an X-Acto knife! Bet you had sore fingers! But what results! Gorgeous!!

Wow! That table is so pretty. I have a piece that I would love to turn into a charmer, but hubby says I can not paint an antique. Hmmm. It now sits lonely in the garage with no one to love it. Any advice on convincing him would be helpful.

It is beautiful! I am working on a similar table found at a flea market/antique shop, which had been painted white. It is still white but has new coats of paint and a new leaf, makine it larger... will use it for a desk in my studio.

Happy Thanksgiving Karen!
