Road Trip...Smokey Mountain Nation Park

This was our second trip to Smokey Mountain Mountain National Park and it continues to be one of my favorite places to visit.

The Little Pigeon River runs through the park and is a big part of what makes this area so beautiful.

Of course the trees aren't so bad either.  :)

Here is a little video to help you get a feel for the serenity of the river.

The woods here are so beautiful and full of the sounds of birds and squirrels.
Rocky was especially interested in the squirrels! :)

Unfortunately, this was the only trail dogs were are allowed on, so Rocky and Jasmine had to stay in the car when we went for walks in the woods.

The Smokies did not disappoint when it came to gorgeous Fall color either. In fact, one of the things I noticed was the addition of a lot more reds once we entered Tennessee.

I must have looked like a kid a Christmastime as as I soaked it all in!!

I'll leave you with  a little sample of what the drive through the park was like...

Soooooooooo pretty! I so wish we had fall colors. Thank you for sharing with us. And what a bummer the furry kids couldn't walk on the trails with you! What are they afraid of? Like the wild animals aren't out there doing "animal things"???? Poor babies. Have fun!

Beautiful! Thanks for the videos that really gave me a feel for what it was like. Here in Kansas we have to search high and low for that kind of beauty!

Hi Karen, Your pictures are awesome and it is my favorite time of the year. All of the beautiful colors. We took a mini vacation to Branson, Mo. and loved the fall color. We won't get to take a drive this weekend to see our area color, just have to much going on. I will be looking forward to seeing more pictures of your trip. Thank you for sharing. Your Missouri Friend.

I always love your post, but this one was like being home. We live outside Nashville and my parents have a place in Townsend, outside Cades Code. I've linked my last trip there. It was a sentimental journey for me. My dad is up there now. I love the fall colors and the sounds. So peaceful.

You're making this Tennessee girl homesick! The Pacific Northwest is beautiful but there's no place like the South...

Hi Karen, We just came home from 3 and half weeks in NC and TN. You are so right, TN does have more reds. I noticed that too. Being a Yankee from the NE, it takes me awhile to appreciate all the gold/orangy/yellows with only touches of reds here and there. We so love the mountains of NC and TN. Your photos are so great! I have not even started back to blogging until Monday. Just hopping around visiting friends. Blessings,
Lynn
