Dried Hydrangeas

Last week after hitting Sweet Salvage, my friend Lynn and I continued down 7th Ave to see what other trouble we could get into! We came upon Rust and Roses while they were setting up for a sidewalk truck sale. Oh my... the stuff was all so cool and all came from various European countries.
I have always liked the antique bread bowls that come from Europe and the guy who was selling them had them in abundance! Unfortunately, the sale wasn't supposed to start until the next day!
Well, Lynn wasn't going to take no for an answer and she used her feminine charm to convince the young man to sell us a couple of things before the sale started!!
(Thank you Lynn!)

Well, after bringing my fabulous new bread bowl inside I decided it needed something in it... so off to the web I did go, to see if I could find some preserved or dried hydrangeas to put in it.
I found some beautiful ones in a shop called Hydrangea Rangers.
I ordered them, and within 3 or 4 days they arrived in perfect condition.

I love the way the bowl and the flowers look on my dining room table! They are absolutely perfect for spring and summer and they make me so happy to look at them!!

I hope your weekend is filled with sunshine antiques and flowers too!!!!

So beautiful.. I am a HUGE fan of dried hydrangeas . Last season my bush for some reason did not yield as many heads as it normally would. I am hoping this year will be different. I never have enough!
Cheers, Gee

Well ain't I kicking myself...the last 5 years in our townhouse I kept planting hydrangeas and I can't believe it...I left them there when we moved last fall!! I had 5 years of Mother's Day bushes (and a few more) and I just left them there...wonder if they'd notice them gone one very early morning! One of the first things I plan on putting into our new yard! Love the bowl by the way... and who used their girlie charms???
Hugs,
Pendra

You are one lucky girl! I have a passion for hydrangeas but alas, the AZ desert doesn't have the same passion! Thank you for the contact on Etsy and your arrangement is stunning!

Well, glad you got the bread bowl because it looks so good with the hydrangeas in it! I cannot imagine shipping something as fragile as hydrangeas but glad they arrived in good condition.

Happy weekend!

The bowls and flowers are beautiful!

I went to check out Sweet Salvage. It was neat, but maybe it is better to go on a different day than Saturday if you don't like crowds or maybe one of the other two days. It is a lot to take in at once and at least one could by a cup of tea or a cookie or even go to lunch around there and go back.

I also went to the Union at the Biltmore. Paris Envy was really neat. The man who designs lighting fixtures for Paris envy submits some of his products to Sweet Salvage.

Love your blog found you from a pin. The bowl and flowers are beautiful! Thanks for all the lovely Sweet salvage pics. I missed the sale this month due to the three day weekend. I have felt very sorry for myself and impatient for the March sale to hurry and get here. Your pictures helped me feel not so left out.
Your home is beautiful.

Wow! As always, beautiful Karen! So cool that you can order flowers over the net and get them delivered in just a few days. That bowl is awesome; you are so lucky to have a friend who knows how to use her "feminine charm" ;)

Thanks for the pictures and reminding me that spring is on the way even though everything here is still covered in snow. I love the dried hydrangeas.

Are hydrangeas dried the same way you dry roses?
