Vintage Kitchen Light Fixture

I love my kitchen since the new paint job, but one thing that has always been an issue has been the lighting on the counter at night. Until recently, I just added a lamp to give me the extra light I needed, but I have always longed for a cool light fixture that would fit with the look of the house and also provide great task lighting. Well, That day finally arrived!!!!

My wonderfully talented and handy Hubby built me this light fixture over the weekend! Yes, that's right... he built it from scratch! I showed him photos of the kind of fixture I wanted from (where else?) Pinterest,  and he made it happen!

The shades were found on Ebay and after much searching he also found the little fixture that holds the light bulb. Then we went to Home Depot and bought plumbing pipe.

He put it all together, sprayed it all black, wired it, and spent quite a bit of time in the attic re-enforcing the space above the fixture so it would be nice and sturdy.

I was doing the happy dance in my kitchen the first time I was able to really see what I was
cooking!!!

I know he reads my blog pretty often so I would just like to say....
Thank you baby!! You are the best hubby ever!!!!

What a great guy to make you this light fixture! It matches the style of your kitchen and has freed up the corner where the lamp was.
Happy cooking and baking Karen.

Sikken en skøn belysning du der har fået, jeg forstår godt du elsker dit køkken, det er så lækkert, og din mand fortjener din ros, giv ham et stort knus og lav noget rigtig lækkert mad til ham, det fortjener han. knus morkaren.

Wow, what a great fixture and a great hubby, Karen! It looks like you will have plenty of light over this counter now. I'm still doing the lamp thing {I have two strategically placed}. I have the under cabinet lighting, just need for my hubby to make some time and install it.
