Road Trip...Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia

After an unexpected extra few days at our in-laws due to car issues (everything's all fixed now)
we finally made it to Virginia and Skyline Drive. First let me say, Virginia was beautiful. Not just on the scenic drive but everywhere else too! I wish the photos could properly convey how awesome the views were. There was a lot of moisture in the air so the vistas were a little hazy.

The colors here range from brilliant yellow...

to warm russet...

and occasionally a brilliant red.

It was one of the loveliest scenic drives I have ever been on. The weather was a wonderful 70 degrees or so on the mountain and I was a happy happy girl!!!

Hello Karen

Such beautiful images. We just spent two days in Farmville, Va and your photos are so in keeping with what we saw. We both remarked how the colours are more subtle than in the N.E.
Thanks for sharing

My folks used to do that drive often and said it was their favorite and the most beautiful of anywhere.
So glad the car troubles are behind.
Have fun! <3

I love seeing your vacation. I was in Virginia for a week maybe 20 years ago. I love the hills, the old stone homes. You can feel the history. You are having quite the trip!

I think we were on the same trip! Last week we were in Beckley, W.VA., took the scenic route to Roanoke, VA., & from there drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway for sixty miles. It was rainy part of the time but absolutely beautiful! I hope to post some pictures in a day or two. Who knows...our paths may have crossed!

Well my goodness! You were fairly close to me; next time, please visit Thistle Cove Farm. You were also close to Meadows of Dan and friend Leslie at Greenberry House; another wonderful visit when next you're in the area.

Oh what beautiful pictures Karen.
I'm waiting for Fall to arrive in my neck of the woods. Love when the leaves start turning and the air is cool and crisp.
