Repurposed doors headboard

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was wonderful and was spent with my son and my parents here at my home. I'm sorry to have the season come to an end, but I also enjoy clearing out the decorations and beginning the new year with a fresh clean look

I have been searching Craig's List for the past several month's hoping to find some old doors to use as
a headboard. Well Wednesday I finally hit pay dirt!!! I found a gentleman  who had  12 doors that he used as wall partitions in his t-shirt shop. They were kept indoors and because so, were very clean. The original price was $60 each or $50.00 each if I bought 2 more. He kindly agreed to sell them to me for $40.00 each so for $120.00 I built this fabulous headboard!!

I screwed a tin ceiling tile on the diagonal to give it some more interest. (I'm hoping hubby will use the magnetic surface to leave me little love notes ) And then to add even more character, I scrounged the pediment above them from my studio. (It looks better here anyway.)

I'm thrilled with the way it turned out! I'd like to eventually replace the side lamps with some swing arm lamps mounted to the doors so reading in bed will be  a little easier.

I hope you have a happy and safe New Year celebration!! It's gonna be a great year, I can feel it in my bones!!!!

Oh Karen, it's gorgeous!!! Guess what??? I have some swingarm lights I'm going to be getting rid of because I've got a new bed, too! I'd be happy to give them to you. They are an oiled bronze color, but I know you could change that to anything you wanted. The shades are a taupe color with a beaded fringe of smokey colored and clear beads.

We should hook up soon. Let me know if you want a picture of them, and I'll send one to you.

Happy new year!

Hugs,
Meri

Amazing! I used an old gate for a headboard in my daughter's room years ago, but we ended up needing the gate in the garden.

I hope your husband reads your blog so he will know about the love notes idea.

I love those kind of finds don't you?
Do you attach your heavy items to the wall or do you just lean them? I lean everything, but sometimes it is dangerous.

I keep coming back to this post over and over. Your bedroom is so GORGEOUS! I not only love the headboard, but I adore the paint treatment running along the top of the wall...did you use a stencil? I am trying to paint and decorate an entire house we just purchased last summer and not one single room is done...I think I need to pick one room and just put all my energy into it. And I think your bedroom has inspired me to work on ours!

amazing setting! love the vintage doors and what a great deal. I have a beautiful collection of antique Mexican doors from the 1800's about 300 hundred. headboard is a big deal just FYI stay away from lead paint on vintage doors very common. inspect before placing in your home. My doors are in Houston at Barrio Antiguo.

This headboard of old doors is probably the most stylish and beautiful I have seen. I am planning an up-cycle restyle of my bedroom in a few months. I am definitely going do this.
