Trust me... stop using Internet Explorer

Hi Ladies! Hope your week is wonderful so far! I wanted to share with you a little bit of info.

I've had several clients contact me because when they go to upload a picture to their blog, the option to upload from their computer is no longer there. The first thing I ask is... "Are you using Internet Explorer?" What do you think the answer always is??? Yes, you guessed it. They always answer yes.

I've mentioned this before, but I thought I would mention it again. If you want your blog to function at it's best, if you want to see all the pretty things on blogs they way they should be seen, if you don't want to have problems all the time... Stop using Internet Explorer! (I would have put that in all Caps, but I didn't want it to seem like I was yelling at you.)

Internet Explorer just does not keep up with with all the different changes that happen on the Internet all time. Unfortunately, because it comes on all PC's, most people just use the browser that came on their computer. There are much better choices out there ladies!!

So what should you use?? Firefox or Google Chrome. Both are excellent. Blogger recomends either one as  a compatible browser. And by the way... Safari users.... You need to switch too.

Please trust me ladies. Once you get used to using a new browser, you'll never look back!!!

Thanks Karen for passing this along. I switched to Chrome a long time ago and haven't had any problems since. I go back to IE sometimes for printing because I like the options better, but don't use it for much else. Happy 2013 to you.

I couldn't agree more. As the computer application person at our hospital cardiac program, I stress this the most to everyone... IE is just to slow and buggy. I have been using Firefox for years and would highly recommend it!

When I switched to a Mac Book Pro my
uploads are so speedy and perfect. I love using Safari in place of the other internet options out there..
Thanks for the warning.

How do you use these when you have Windows 7?
Thanks

I switched to Firefox about 6 months ago and there is just no comparison. It runs faster and I think more user friendly...coming from someone trying to figure out all this computer tech all on my own... I knew enough to switch to Firefox!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills, I've learned alot along the way!
Hugs,
Pendra

Hello Karen,
Happy New Year!
I am so glad you addressed this issue. I was thinking it was the same thing, when I heard people begin to mention that they couldn't upload images. I have used Firefox for quite a while now, and I am happy with it.
Now can you explain the Google + thing...it is so frustrating to have a new follower, but not be able to find their blog.
Hugs,
Terri

I whole heartedly agree with you. I switched to Firefox about 9 months ago at the suggestion of a grandson. It prevents pop-up's and is faster than IE..I still kept IE on my PC tho, as I go into it occasionally for something. I think Mozilla Firefox was a good choice for me..

As a "tech gadget" gal, I sooooo agree. Stop using IE and get thee to FireFox or Chrome. Since I'm a Macbook user, I prefer Firefox as my primary browser but I use both at my job and at home.

Couldn't agree more... I'm a very happy Chrome user, and have been for years. First thing I did when I went Mac was get Chrome up and running - mainly because I needed somewhere on my Mac that wasn't GREY! What is it with Mac - supposed to be the choice for creatives and everything is grey and in Helvetica (ugliest font ever) and you can't change it... nearly swapped back on the spot!! Other than that I now love it of course!!

As someone who is Tech Challenged I just wonder if switching means having to set up the Blog all over again? Kinda timid to switch and then realize I don't know how to use any of the new stuff or screw things up beyond fixing? Yes, I'm on IE and having major loading problems like just about everyone else on IE... but can't afford to hire someone to figure it all out... so I'm cautiously exploring the options that perhaps I can do for myself. Firefox seems to be highly recommened so I'd LIKE to try it... just fearful it could be something I can't figure out without help...

Hi Karen I have the same question as Terri does, once you have Google + by your name you can't find anyones blog when they leave a comment and when you do a total google + all the way you have to belong to someone's group in order to leave a comment. I had a lot of emails and complaints from regular bloggers that said they could not see my post anymore on their feed. I'm not a big fan of the google blog changeover for that reason. Perhaps you can help or maybe you could do a post on the pros and cons of this. Do you still get my comments when I leave them? I hope that isn't messed up. We all come whining to you cause you are so talented, sorry:)

Hugs and love xoxo Marilou

Karen,
My son finally talked me into Google about a year ago...I have not had ONE problem since! It isn't a big deal to change....and seeing as how blogger run off of Google anyhow...you have to have a Goggle acct to have Blogger...makes sense! :)
Thanks for posting this....I think a lot of people need the info...

Oh, so true, but I was on Firefox before I even started blogging. Love it!

I could not be more pleased with Firefox. Also, you might want to start using a new search engine such as Duck Duck Go. They don't track your searches and fill your email with related junk.

Exactly what happened to me. After I loaded Chrome I could. One question - if I make it my default browser would it be easier to get around? Thanks, and thanks, too, for your post. Diane

Your post couldn't have come at a better time. I used to use Firefox but for some reason I went back to I.E. I've been using I.E. for a couple of years now without too much of a problem until 2 days ago when I went to my blog, needed to post pictures and I couldn't. The option was gone. so, I'm going to start using Firefox. Thank you so much for sharing!

I wondered why so many people were posting that they were having trouble uploading photos and I was having no trouble. I started using Chrome about 6 months ago.

I switched over to Firefox a couple of years ago. IE was just getting to slow for me.

I bought an iPad for myself for Christmas. I immediately discovered it's limitations and will use it only for the mundane things. When it comes to banking, my blog, pictures, Pinterest, and several other things I use regularly, I am back to my desktop. I am a diehard PC user/lover. The big thing I love about the iPad, however, is Face Time which allows me to see my grandchildren and talk to them at the same time. And it will help me pass some time on the 4+ hour flights I make to VA to visit my grandchildren.

Thanks for sharing, Karen!

Thank you so much for posting this Karen. I tried to do a post a couple of days ago after not having posting for over a year and just could not figure out why I could not load pics from my files. Finally, my savy husband figured it out. I felt like I was beating my head against a rock!!Your information will save so many people from going crazy!! Wish I had known before. Blessings, Linda

I am considering switching to Chrome but haven't made the leap yet. In the meantime, in case someone asks you, the work-around to get Blogger to upload photos right now is to switch to html mode. That has the old uploader and it still works.

Karen, thanks for bringing this to my attention, so glad I read this particular post. I haven't posted for a couple weeks and I'd have been totally clueless as to why I couldn't upload photos from my computer. You've saved me from ALOT of frustration, I am so appreciative!!!!! To anyone else considering changing, it was totally painless to upload Google Chrome. I find I can post my own photos to my blog eventhough I haven't made GC my default browser as yet. I am taking baby steps. There are slight differences, nothing major. Thanks again Karen, you're a lifesaver! :o)

Great advice Karen! I am a Firefox fan myself. There is nothing more frustrating that a web browser that does not function correctly.

Thank you Karen, I am finally back up and running with Chrome. I only find I cannot change the font on my writing so I guess I'll try to figure that out one day. Most likely I'll wait until you or someone posts how to fix that too. You're a life safer.

Greetings from Baltimore. I was doing a blog search and reading about other people having troubles uploading photos onto their blogs.. boy are there many of us!!! It's been going on for about a month now and I admit that I have heard that I should switch browsers but I've been to stubborn to do it.. I feel like "they" are forcing me to use the google engine.
I am afraid that once I download another browser that it will be to much for my little computer to handle.
Here we go... time to try it!
Thanks for the tip ~ it's good to hear what your other readers think too. : )

Just finished reading all your comments and I am sooooo relieved to find out that I did nothing wrong and it's just a general problem with IE. I also have been using html to upload photos which works just fine and if I want to add text, I switch back and forth. But it's a pain. Thanks for clearing this up. You are amazing, Karen.

For those of us that can't switch, like AOL users, when doing your blog if you will switch from Compose mode to HTML mode, you will be able to add pictures from your computer :)

A few years ago my computer was starting to go bad. Just getting old, and the hard drive getting full, and that sort of thing. It was running slower, and after checking around I decided to take the dive into having a new browser. At that time I chose Fire Fox. Well...computer finally went on me. When we got the new computer I automatically put in the Fire Fox browser. I have enjoyed it ever since, and have always used it too. I don't have as many issues with pop-ups, pictures load better for me, my speed is better, the security has been much better with Fire Fox, and I have always recommended to anyone who was having issues doing things with their own computer. Yes, I have Chrome downloaded too. Fire Fox is my main browser, but once in a while I find myself using chrome if I have to open another tab to do that wonderful multi tasking that I need it for:)

Thanks for sharing, and Good Luck to everyone else with your decisions of choosing the browser that works for you. I quit IE years ago, and have not regretted it since then either:)
