Junk Bonanza

While at The Creative Connection Event, a few of us girls decided to channel our inner delinquents and ditch one our classes (shame on me) to go see the Junk Bonanza. How could I not? I had heard so much about it, read the magazine, read the blog.... I had to jump on the opportunity!

It was not exactly what I was expecting... but so wonderful anyway! I had a vision in my head that it was... well.... A JUNK Bonanza! Similar I suppose to flea markets I had been to in Ca. where there were just tables full of great junk and fabulous finds.

Instead, I found beautiful displays full of the most wonderful vintage goodies. It was like having hundreds of beautiful shops all in one place.

The white pumpkins were out in abundance, and I loved them all. They added such a wonderful fall effect. I love them much more than the orange ones.

There was tons of rusty iron of all kinds...

Something about this framed eye chart I found really cool....
Chandeliers and petticoats... what girl doesn't love that???

I was feeling strangely  at home in this booth...Could it be the steer scull on the table?? LOL!

There were a couple of vendors selling art of this type. I really like it. It has a wonderful combination of vintage and contemporary style. I'm thinking a canvas and some paint might be on my shopping list....

This sign sums up how I feel perfectly. I truly hope that this decorating movement never goes out of fashion.  I love the connection to the past, the feelings of warmth and peace that I feel when surrounded by it all. It's a good thing I only had limited space in my suitcase to bring goodies home or I would be in poor house (and the dog house)!!!

Hi Karen,

Where is this place, and how were the prices? I'm sure it's not here in Arizona, we could never be that lucky.

Meri

Hi Karen, What a treat to be able to spend some time looking through all that vintage goodness. I like all the silver and wire baskets, can't seem to pass any of that up these days. Glad you had a great time.

Your pictures are so beautiful! I am so glad that the Twin Cities were able to show their stuff! Unfortunately I was in Croatia for the wedding of our exchange student son and missed it all. I do hope to make it next year...I hope there is a next year for Creative Connection and it will be here!!!

Love the pics but as you said, it wasn't what I was expecting. I was thinking outside and just long lines of tables and booths with rusty vintage goodness. This is certainly a treat though. The booths were beautiful...the eye chart got me too. It was funny to then read your caption. Getting lots of comments on your beautiful design for my blog. Thanks again!

I wish someone would come up with another word for JUNK!! I love this style and so hope it is not a trend. Thanks for all of the incredibly beautiful pictures, Karen!

Oh Karen! Thank you soooo much for being a delinquent ;) I have wondered for a long time what it would look like at the Junk Bonanza and you were so kind to skip class AND take pictures!!!! Thank you, thank you! However, I must say that it's not at all what I expected either. Beautiful, but not at all what I'd expected.

With regard to your comment about vintage never going out of style....eeeeekkkkk they'd condemn my house based on the contents if vintage and old ever went out of style ;) Long live vintage!

Amen and forever and all that good stuff.

Karen, what wonderful junk! I'd be happy as a clam wandering around that place-I see a couple of my things there, but mostly my wish list! I love the all lettering too, and want to add some of that to my old hardware store home.

Looks like a dream come true. I love to display-and arrange displays. That chandelier really caught my eye.

Hey, Karen. I wasn't there although a trip to a creative weekend is in my near future. I was just commenting on your photos.

You are too funny, Karen. You need a steer skull on your patio, if you don't already have one. I saw a bunch in Cave Creek the other day. You could make one out of paper mache?? I love your posts of your adventure lately. Thanks for sharing!

Karen, it's a good thing all of this eye candy isn't fattening! ;-) I think those of us who love this stuff would need to let our clothes out!

Hi Karen! Looks like you had a wonderful time at Creative Connection. You wouldn't want a tour of my house right now. It's a disaster. As far as slipcovers go....NOT an easy project! But you gotta start somewhere I guess.

Karen,
Looks like some of the Warrenton booths. How could you not fill your bags & smuggle them home? LOL Did you see Linda from Itsy Bits & Pieces? She set up there. We had a blast in RT, next time you need to come for sure. The blog party was great, met some cool girls. Lisa

What a fun place to shop! I wish I lived closer to it but enjoyed reading about it. Thank you, too, for the great button you are sharing as a lovely pink ribbon breast cancer awareness clipart for us to use on our own blogs. Such a great way to remind everyone and proactively work to fight this awful disease. Thank you!

I want to gohere!!!!!!!! Can you hear the whinning? Maybe next year we can go together if I get to join you for Creative Connection. Just back from Round Top. WE MUST START PLANNING!!!!! How does Spring sound? I found a CHEAP hotel that we stayed at. There are NO great hotels. Some great B&B's but, they are all pre booked & besides... a bunch of girls sharing is NOT good for B&B's since most rooms have one single Queen. Let's chat soon. HUGS!
