Our road trip continues through West Virginia where we visited Blackwater Falls State Park.
The scenery was absolutely beautiful but the falls took my breath away! The photos I took did not do it justice at all...
I have a thing for waterfalls. Maybe it's because of growing up in the desert, or maybe it's just a primeval attraction to the sound of water. These falls made quite a loud sound as you can tell from the video, but I still found it to be most peaceful.
I shot lots of photos of the Fall color from the van. West Virginia was by far the prettiest so far. Each area hits it's peak at different times, and I think we caught WV just right!!
It doesn't show up as well in this photo, but the country side looked like it was covered in multi-colored pompoms.
We are currently staying with hubbies parents and will head out for Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee over the weekend. I suspect the scenery down Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge parkway will be breathtaking!

WV is a gorgeous state! It is only a little over an hour from me and in the last few years I have got to see more and more of it. You will be seeing even more beauty as you head out on the next leg of your trip. Have fun!~Hugs, Patti

Hi Karen,
I love your photos of Blackwater Falls, WV. They tree colors are so lovely and it makes me really homesick for my beloved mountains.
I'm from Charleston, WV, born and raised and now living seven years on the coast of North Carolina. We are trying to sell our house so we can move back. My heart and soul is still there and it's where I want to be.
I'm so glad that you visited and found it to be lovely.
hugs

Oh, my, these pictures made my heart ache with a tiny bit of homesickness for New Hampshire. Now that we live in the desert we share your fondness for water, and I thank you for the waterfall video. I am enjoying your trip so much!
I'm so glad you got o see the fall foliage in its prime. I was worried that the season would be in its' end. Our beautiful yellow and red Maples are loosing their leaves now.
We're a little more north than where you are. I'm happy knowing you are enjoying your trip.
Oh Karen- you are so close to me- only a few hours away and- I think you will pass right through my hometown on your way south!! Sigh---
Yes- we are having a glorious fall!
Vicki
