It'sParty Time!!!

Wow. I can't believe the party day is finally here. It feels like I've been planning forever! Thank you so much to all of you who are participating and all of you are just coming around to soak up all the creative energy! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine such a fabulous turnout! Let's have some fun!!!

I got my studio when my son Brian moved out of the house 3 years ago. So you see, my loss was also my gain. It was so wonderful to finally have a room of my own to create in or just hang out if I wanted to. I searched the second hand stores for a dining room table and found one I thought was perfect. I also purchased the dresser above that I painted black and distressed. It holds all of my ribbon grouped by color and in large plastic bags.

The small black cabinets hold lots of small supplies and came from JoAnne in their unfinished furniture section.

These curtains I made myself using shirring tape. It's a wonderful thing and makes creating professional looking drapes very easy.

This is one of my little notebooks I make.

My cabinet is a recent addition. I knew I wanted some kind of wall storage there, but hadn't found the right thing. On a recent trip to Ikea, I found it. Unfortunately it was red, but was on sale, so of course I took it home and painted it.

If you click on the photo it will enlarge and you can see the detail inside. I covered the inside with old letters, book pages, dictionary pages and postcards. It's now one of my favorite pieces.

I think I've shown you this before, but I'll show it again. I love my ceiling tile bulletin board.

I love my room.

Home made chandelier puts off just enough light to brighten up a dark corner.

My little silver serving dishes work great to hold things I use all the time.

Lazy Susan from Michaels.

This is part of my view when I'm working at the table. I'm always looking for cool old frames.

Inside the closet, is where I store supplies that are not so pretty to look at... although the decorative boxes help.

My little cubby hole unit came from Pottery Barn a few seasons ago. Love it!!!

One of my decorative pots. They are so much fun to make!!

This clock was actually a STEAL at Goodwill for $9.99.

This is the rest of the view while I'm sitting and working. I have a DVD player set up and can watch whatever I want. NetFlix is Awesome! Right now I'm going through the whole Desperate Housewives series.

Well, that's it! My favorite room in the house. I hope I didn't bore you all with to many photo's. It was so hard to narrow them down!! Now, I am off to go look at the rest of the work spaces owned by all you talented and creative people out there. Please excuse me if it takes me a while to get to you. I want to take my time and soak up each one!!!

Bye for now!!!

Ok it's late and I wanted to start in on the fun since I'll be gone for most of it as you already know.
The truth is you have a stunningly beautiful dreamy space to do your creating. And I totally am in love with it.
But the tired Terri wants to be sarcastic and say...Oh you poor thing.. how can you stand to even go in there...the torture of it all. ;)
So I hope you appreciate my 2:45am attempt at humor.
And Thank You for getting this Blog party started.

Thanks SO much for hosting this! It came at just the right time for me. My son is getting married in a few weeks and I am inheriting his room for a sewing/craft/guest room, and I'm looking for general ideas as well as specifics in how best to store various things.

What a lovely room you have. I especially like that cabinet.

Wow Karen, you have the most wonderful, beautiful creative space! LOVE IT!!!

I can dream that someday I will have such a space. For now, I work out of nicks and corners - a desk in my bedroom, sometimes dragging baskets of supplies out to the dining room table . . and more storage space with my supplies in the dining room . . a little here, a little there.

What a great blog event you have hosted. I checked out yours first, most definitely . . now off to peek at some others.

Have a great weekend :) ~Stacey

What a lovely and sophisticated opening to the event you've provided, Karen! Thank you once again for hosting this marvelous party; I simply ADORE your studio space! I would love to find out your secret for easy curtain production as I am sorely in need of window treatment but am still a beginner in the sewing department. However, my better half, Barrett, has surprised me recently with an antique sewing machine (we can't seem to locate an exact date but believe it was manufactured between 1920 - 1945). I can't wait to use it and creating curtains for the studio would be a marvelous first project. I look forward to hearing from you!

Enjoy the Party!

Warmly,

Natasha
